Developing software must've been very ass in the 90s since hardware perfomance was below the brain power of a cockroach and internet, if even avalaible, was fucking slow and unstable

I was just a kid at that time, but holy shit even in the late 90s developing software was fucking ass

This is a dumb debate but you don't know what upper-class is. Upper-class at a MINIMUM means you could live entirely on income your investments. My dad has a net worth in the seven figures and still needs to work for a living, I'd for sure describe him as upper-middle class, same as Bezos' parents from the sound of it.

Apple, Dell, Id software just to name a few examples that started with a budget of $0. And even if Bill got a $500K loan if you've interacted a lot with rich people you would know they're quite used to people asking for money and saying no, which includes family. The message your extrapolating from successful companies is the wrong one, instead of thinking "if you're not born rich your screwed" you should be thinking "I should be getting investors early on".

It does suck that the wealthy are the ones with the freedom to pursue science and invest in their ideas, but this has always been the standard in history.

It's very Lindy for a rich heir with all the time in the world to read every philosophy book, every science novel and do science experiments in his backyard. That's Isaac Newton.
It's very rare for a regular working Joe to gamble his limited equity on a passing idea he had.

>It does suck that the wealthy are the ones with the freedom to pursue science and invest in their ideas, but this has always been the standard in history.
No, during the boom period of America when we didnt have a central bank, even Joe could innovate to build a business. Small businesses were the backbone and the standard of all societies. But when you add a jewish central planning into things, suddenly all small businesses get destroyed and only nepotistic babies get their ideas funded. That's why everything is stagnant atm, with zombie companies, and zero innovation. It's also why the only innovatoons are survelliance and ways to keep people more drugged and locked down. It's the elite's innovation of slavery.

I know times are tough right now but I say this from Canada, starting a business in the states is far, far better for the average joe than it is for an average Joe in a European/Canadian economy.
Unless you're a blue blood or on a first name basis with the local government starting a business is a crapshoot.
It's fucking ridiculous how much they tax you for bullshit that doesn't exist. Even successful businesses are barely skirting by.

Which is why euros and Canadians will walk down 5 different streets and see the same fucking businesses repeated because there is no competition for small local businesses to take a risk on a venture. We just get more tim.hoetons, Walmart's and McDonald's on every street.

Meanwhile I can drive around for hours in California and I never see the same business repeated.

The health of competitive businesses can be measured by how frequently you can find multiple McDonald's. If you have a lot of McDonald's in a small area then that's an unhealthy economy where local businesses can't thrive. If you see a single McDonald's in a 50 mile radius then that's a very healthy economy that I have only seen in America.

Bro my family has been working their whole lives and have less than half a million net worth, almost entirely in their house.
Always ask your family for low interest loans when you buy a house or car or something because you are always retarded not to pay the interest to family instead of a bank, and you will probably get a better interest rate and still beat whatever 2-3% conservative growth rate target that have on their retirement, it's win-win for everyone except the bank

$500k is literally all a boomer needed to retire. There's a difference between your parents being able to save $500k over their lifetime and being rich enough to bet $500k on a startup. They were either rich as fuck if they could invest that much in his company or they really believed in their son. Most boomers would not invest their entire life savings in their kids, since boomers hate their kids. Of course Bezos' parents are not boomers so they probably loved their son and were happy to help.
