I'm unhappy with the consequences of not taking. If I had it to do over again, I'd still not take it but handle the aftermath differently. There was a very small window between when the mandates were dropped and when Musk started the tech apocalypse with the twitter layoffs. While there's no guarantee that any job started during that small window would not have been quickly eliminated, at least it would have been a shot. I also could have gone into cost saving spartan mode sooner but didn't realize the tech market would get this bad, for this long.
If I somehow end up being able to come up with independent revenue streams that make use of my skills, then I'll be happy overall. I never liked corporate workplaces but this isn't really the way I wanted to escape.
