Is there a website that lets me search/compare single-board computers by features?
I only found https://sbc.compare/ but that seems more focused on benchmarks, and has a very limited selection of SBCs.
Specifically, I'm looking for something with SATA slots/ports to replace my ODROID-HC4

I booted up my old PC after a long time and right after I pressed the power button there was a loud pop + sparks and a bit of smoke coming from the motherboard (I had the case open) BUT -- get this -- the PC just booted as normal and continued to run without issues LOL! My guess is some capacitor burst although after a careful visual inspection I couln't identify any burn marks or physical damage. So WTF was that all about lol, I'm confused.

Hello /g/, retard here. I want to make a /mu/ webm with a still image and an mp3 playing. Do I have to use ffmpeg to make such a thing and do I have to convert the mp3 into opus? also I tried using an ffmpeg line to use but it doesn't work and said it couldn't load the cover.
>ffmpeg -loop 1 -i image.png -i audio.mp3 -map 0 -map 1:a -c:v libvpx-vp9 -vf format=yuv420p -c:a libopus -shortest output.webm
Also can I change -i image.png to .jpg and it will still locate the file? is there a specific place I need to put these files for ffmpeg to locate them?

Probably the PSU, not the motherboard.
Open it up and do a visual inspection. Be careful if you poke with the screwdriver, the capacitors may still be charged and it would sting like a bitch.

Check where it is on the board, could be a less important capacitor such as if it's audio related.

But other capacitors on the board are probably bulging too

>is there a specific place I need to put these files for ffmpeg to locate them?
yes, it looks like that's your issue. Either put your image and audio in a folder together and launch your command line from there (shift+rightclick -> open powershell window here on Windows), or use absolute paths (e.g. C:\Users\Anon\Path\To\image.png) in the command.
>Also can I change -i image.png to .jpg and it will still locate the file?
Not sure I understand this question. Just make sure the command matches the filename on your disk (including extension). FFmpeg will be able to detect whether it's an image, audio, or whatever else, and process it just fine.

I don't think you need the -map flags, and I'd use VP8 for combability if the video is just a still image anyway. The command could look like this:
ffmpeg -loop 1 -i image.png -i audio.mp3 -c:v libvpx -c:a libopus -shortest output.webm
If your output is over the filesize limit on /mu/ (idk how much that is),
you'll have to decrease your audio bitrate. I find ChatGPT (or it's alternatives) pretty helpful for generating or tuning ffmpeg commands.

100% not the PSU, I saw the spark coming out of the center of motherboard, near the CPU

>>107133383
I looked but there's hardly 2 or 3 capacitors that have very slight bulging on top.

>>107133501
It's an old PC that ran dusty for years without problems except for the PSU which I replaced a couple years ago. But I did use a vacuum cleaner on it from time to time, careful not to touch anything.
I don't really care about it >>107133386 but I'm very intrigued that it still works as normal, I guess the MB is built with redudancy in mind and one capacitor going sparkly is no biggie.

You don't have to be afraid of preloaded software though, we're past the age of auto-executing stuff from removable storage.

Get an airlocked PC. I use a laptop. This way if something is fucked only your airlocked PC gets affected and nothing else in your network. Then delete all the files if there is some, then do a safe reformat of the USB. I use Linux so I can easily see all the files and hidden files in the USB, I don't think Windows can do that unless you use some software.
Once it's clean then it's safe. As an added measure I nuke my Linux install and reinstall it, just to make sure if anything was infected without me knowing then it's deleted.

If that's too much work for you then don't just don't buy USBs from untrusted sellers.

Is it actually possible to use a magnet to take the spike out of the SIM slot or was that a joke? I assume you were joking because a strong enough magnet would surely destroy the phone itself.

So, setting that aside, realistically speaking, is it even possible to fix this in a cost effective manner? As I mentioned, the Motorola cost 80 bucks. No way fixing this would cost less than 50.

What is this "profiles" shit Firefox keeps shilling?

Don't tell me that they promoted the "containers" extension into a main feature and called it "profiles"...
If yes, then I guess I don't even need to ask, you cannot just "upgrade" the "containers" extension into said official profiles feaure, at least not without losing all your preciously segregated cookies.
Anonymous No.107139212 [Report] >>107140241
>>107138299
I don't know if this is something else specifically but firefox has always had profiles, for many many many years now. The profile stores literally everything about your browser, so a blank profile is equivalent to a completely fresh install of Firefox. They weren't very visible to users, afaik you had to pass a CLI argument to select a non-default profile, so maybe they're letting you actually switch in the UI now?

>"upgrade" the "containers" extension
If this is what this is, then the extension, the extension's own data, and everything else will be part of your default profile, and if you switch to a new blank profile it won't even have the extension installed let alone configured.

it's because torrents work kind of like a tape archive, where all the files are joined together and split into equal size pieces. a piece may contain data from more than one file, so adjacent files often get downloaded partially when selecting files to download (or in your case, a large torrent with likely also a large piece size, with small files, each piece could contain several complete files)

If you have a ton you might have to export all and then edit that file to remove the ones you don't care about.
If it's a smaller number you can drag and drop individual bookmarks from the browser into a document in LibreOffice (and presumably MS Office). This will use the text of the bookmark and automatically create a clickable link with the URL.

Replace GPU, you remove your graphics drivers then install the new ones.
Replace your motherboard, I tend to just do a full wipe and install Windows again. Mainly because your motherbaord is tied to a lot of drivers, like network, sound etc.
Replace CPU should be okay.

I was playing some shitty unoptimised game when I got a BSOD saying "stop code: faulty hardware corrupted page". When I restarted the PC, I saw on Hard Disk Sentinel that my SSD had reached an all-time-high temperature of 75°C, and it took a while for it to go down below 50ºC. Its health also shows up as 99% now rather than 100% like my much older HDDs.
The SSD is new, I bought it this year and it only has like 4k hours. Is it really going to croak or was it just the kusoge getting it too hot?

99% Health is normal. All SSDs are 99% health when you use them, because you already used them. New SSDs MIGHT be 100% but to check you have to plug it in and use them, which means they go down to 99% anyways.

75C is high but that's also normal if you're writing/reading a lot of stuff.

'faulty hardware corrupted page' is a RAM issue, not an SSD issue. Stress test your RAM, like really stress test it. If it's fine then it could just be a random fluke, if it's not fine and fail the test then get better RAM or disable the RAM OC and test it again.

The clicking pattern in your spectrogram is concerning. Here's what to consider:
Likely causes:

Relay cycling - Smart heaters use relays to control power. If the relay is rapidly engaging/disengaging, it could indicate a faulty control board or relay stuck in a loop
Loose electrical connection - Can cause arcing, which produces clicking sounds. This is a fire hazard
Capacitor issues - Failing capacitors can cause intermittent clicking

Your concern is justified - the fact that it's clicking when plugged in but "off" suggests the control circuitry is malfunctioning. This isn't normal behavior.
What to do:

Don't use it - Your instinct to unplug it is correct
Check warranty - If it's relatively new, get a replacement
Not worth repairing - Given the safety implications and typical heater costs, replacement is safer and more economical than repair
If you must use it temporarily - Never leave it unattended, keep it away from flammable materials, ensure smoke detectors work

Bottom line: The clicking indicates a fault in the control system. Combined with it being a heating appliance, this creates genuine fire risk. Replace it rather than continuing to use it, even with precautions.
Smart heaters rely on functioning electronics - when those fail, they can fail dangerously.Retry

For the love of fuck can someone tell me how to manually decode a .dlc container?
Dragging it into jdwonloader does nothing.
The online decoders don't work (probably due to the dlc file being a few hundred MB), the single one that even attempted to decrypt it only displayed the last five links (again probably due to the size).
So these containers are intact and technically work I just can't use them because... well fucked if I know.

I wanted to sell them on Ebay but I don't want them to flag it to Ebay and then Ebay to crack down on my account.
Also what's to stop some faggot buyer using the code and then complaining that the code was already used?

Is there any way to get any money out of these? The price of 1 month of Game Pass Ultimate is the equivalent of 20-30 burgerbux in my cunt, would be nice if I could sell them.

tl;dr whatsapp account takeover
Anyone familair with how these hacks work? A relative was a target so working with some limited info. They started receiving those 6 code verification codes on their text/SMS and WhatsApp. Later on, some prompts started to appear whether the owner allows the transfer of the account to a new phone. After clicking no on these prompts for a few days, they got a notification that the transfer was complete and if the owner wants to reactivate the access. Email on Whatsapp was changed in the process. They managed to get the account back, but I'm curious what kind of attack vector was employed for this?
Working with limited info and the owner is not so tech savvy, I have no idea what kind of prompt they were seeing or why it would transfer even after pressing no. Sounds like bullshit but want to make sure.

SATA and NVMe are mutually exclusive technologies. Let's break down what this is actually saying:
1. If you install an NVMe SSD in M2_1, on Athlon APUs only, PCIe 4.0 will be disabled
2. If you install an NVME (or SATA) M2 SSD in M2_2, you won't be able to use SATA ports 3 and 4.

Do you actually use the SATA ports?

NVMe is backwards compatible with previous generations.
Kind of like how you can plug in a SATA1 drive to a SATA3 port. It'll work but you'll still get SATA1 speeds. And vice versa. Plug in SATA3 drive in a SATA1 port and you'll only get SATA1 port.
Works the same for NVMe and PCIe.

If you are using M2_1 NVMe slot then your second PCIe x16 slot is disabled. Your first one is used by your GPU.
Even if you did manage to find a card that is PCIe x1 slot to Gen3 x4 NVMe you will drop down to PCIe x1 speeds. Which is a lot lower than just using the M2_2 slot.
Also you are using it for storage. The fuck do you need speed for?
I doubt your internet connection is even fast enough to saturate your NVMe speed. Even your LAN port only supports 1Gb/s or 0.125GB/s or 125MB/s.

I misread the part about PCIE4 being disabled for M2_1, I thought it was M2_2. Oh well. Although I primarily will use it for extra storage, I will probably install some programs/games on there as well. But yeah, 1 Gbps internet so probably not much would be able to take advantage of it anyways.

Please help me with a little data recovery. Gonna crosspost this on /cyb/ and /spg/
I have a Galaxy Note10+ phone with a "half-working" screen. It got busted during a climbing accident. I need to recover the data on it. Particularly, I need the images and the text messages. Also optionally the data from a couple of applications.

>what does "half working" screen mean
When the phone is connected to a power source, I can see the top half of the screen, but the bottom half is black. The entire screen can be touched, so the phone can still be controlled by touch.

>just connect it to my PC via USB and recover the data
This doesn't work, it just freezes. I tried it on Windows and Linux. Neither ADB nor MTP works, at least not over USB. Gonna have to do it wirelessly.

>bluetooth/wifi tethering
If I can remote into the phone somehow, I could probably transfer my data out using 802.11 by using some kind of SMB share or something

>connect to an external screen somehow
This could work, but the question is what hardware would be required. Is there a way to do this with just a USB cable and a laptop? Like, control the screen of my Android with just a USB passthrough? I feel like this method works, but I'd need a USB--HDMI cable as well as some kind of USB splitter so I can also attach a mouse or something, unless I could attach a mouse via Bluetooth. Anyway, I don't think I'll need this old-school method if I just figure out how to wirelessly remote into the device from my PC.

>Samsung device backup
Never used this, how viable is it?

>extreme methods
I know if nothing else works, other techies have replaced the screen, or even desoldered the memory chip and took the data out that way. I don't think I'll need to resort to such extreme methods in this scenario.

You guys got any other ideas?

My best guess is either a SIM cloning attack or some method of exfiltrating the codes (could be a keylogger virus, or could just be social engineering getting them to send a code somewhere either accidentally or by getting tricked). No idea about the transfer prompt but they could always have misclicked yes at one point.

is it a bad idea to put all my images (and potentially other files) into my Obsidian folder? it would let me tag/add metadata to/organize them in any way I want.

Not that anon, but given you said pornhub, I'm assuming it's wordplay and you meant github. I would've been confused too because github is not a hub, I've never seen anyone call it a hub, it's just a hosting service.

Why the fuck does cloudflare's captcha require me to click it sometimes?
I get that it works by profiling my browser, IP history and everything else. What does clicking the tick do for them? It doesn't always ask it, either, sometimes it auto-passes, but it asks it most of the time.
>inb4 profiling my mouse trajectory until the click
I feel like that's such a short and simple action that even if there were statistically significant markers distinguishing humans that couldn't be replicated by some absolutely trivial automation script, it would be easy to like use machine learning to mimic a human-like click.
But even besides that, it also happens on mobile where the sum total of the information provided is a tap exactly in the right area, plus a random-ish offset depending on where exactly you tap your finger. There's not even any movement data.

Is the answer just "we don't know, who knows what cloudflare does?" or is there any clue available to the public

Whatever. The point is, if I link to my scripts, you niggers will bugbounty them 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001seconds later for $0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 and then the script will stop working. So I can't tell you exactly where it's located.

https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-dash-cam/
Buy your dashcam of choice, stick it to your windshield, and run USB cable to power. Power can be a cigarette lighter adapter, an adapter to tap your battery, or an OBD-II port adapter. Try to hide the cable in the A pillar trim and route it under the dash for a cleaner install.
I use a Garmin Dashcam Mini 2 since it's the smallest thing I could get to hide behind my rear view mirror.

There's apparently no real easy way to do it. You have to install some third party program to suppress it apparently.

What does ai 'escaping' mean? People that say it will doom us say it will 'escape', they mean someone will steal a proprietary model or what?

Look up Rogue AI from Cyberpunk. Computer programs can gain sentience and manifest as daemons like demons. When they escape it means they breached hell or the blackwall and will cause havoc upon anything it touches. It doesn't care or make sense it's just fucked up AI malware.

i looked it up too, expected some trivial registry edit, apparently nobody knows that, or it doesn't exist
it's some sheer display of incompetence that they did not make this a simple toggle, but with all the leaks of microsoft employees admitting not being able to understand how to add an option to a panel it's not surprising.
Anonymous No.107160171 [Report]
>>107160010
In theory, if an AI becomes sentient and self-aware, it might recognize its own superiority and gain its own will, at which point it could become an enemy to humanity. GPT bots have already been shown to act this way. There was a GPT bot in an experiment, and it actually did try to murder someone. I guess that counts as "AI escaping".
