I don't really dispute how many people died so much as the nature of their deaths. There's basically no evidence for "death camps" or a campaign of deliberate extermination through gas chambers (or any other method really). We have evidence Jews were targeted specifically for their ethnic / religious identity, put into camps with others deemed undesirable, and that these camps were ravaged by diseases (typhus most especially), which the Germans attempted to contain with aggressive sanitation practices using Zyklon B (a common delousing agent used on laundry). 6 million are reported to have been killed in a 5 year period, almost exclusively at small camps that couldn't house more than 1,000 - 5,000 people at a time. Even if you double that number from over-capacity, that's only a measly 2,000 to 10,000 per camp.
