I think it looks weird to me since i'm still using wrapping lines training wheels to determine rotation, and my mind is picking up the right bending midline curve leading into the navel as an "error". Like if I cover the ribcage and above, the leg and torso look mismatched to me, but I assume the issue is on my visualization.

How do I actually force myself to draw? I've been wanting to draw for nearly 2 years now and have barely made any progress towards that goal. I've only done one Loomis face like 2 years ago and haven't done any exercises or line work since then. I've been trying to get myself to draw, but all of it looks too complicated and exhausting for me. I've tried multiple different strategies, but they never seem to work. I've tried forcing myself to draw, but can only make myself draw circles for barely 30 seconds before stopping and looking at my phone again.

I've got a couple of drawing books and a drawing tablet for my PC and barely touched them.

My shaky hands fuck up every drawing I make, and I can barely do lines without fucking them up. I can't use my shoulder, I only feel good using the motions of my fingers.
Pic related is the only thing I've managed to do in the last couple of months.

You seem to be at a very beginner level, try to not press the pencil down all the way when you want it to be lighter.

Practice value range rectangles with your pencil to get used to using your pencil like an artist, not as if you’re writing notes in your college composition notebook.

And actually do the exercise. Simply thinking about it won’t put the muscle memory of how hard you should press your pencil down on the paper. picrel. Do that first. Trace the same photo again after doing the pic i sent.

Copied from reference but purely visually and no grids. No trace. Ref in picrel and I'm too poor to print it out to trace it as well (Also got the angle slightly wrong). I just have got a good sense of proportions and I have built my own construction techniques for the body over the last 8days and I draw with a 3H pencil first and repeatedly erase/correct until things look right and the do linework on that.

I'm already looking more at the page than the reference to fix proportions, so I'll take the trace part as a complement, ty.

And I'm doing the lines with a pen, not a pencil and a very cheap (around 10 cents a piece) gel ink based ballpoint pen that just spills it's ink everywhere like crazy and and I tried to do light lines with it on a separate page and it just wouldn't do it. So those are the lightest lines I can muster (except when the pen malfunctions and sends in less ink lol) and I'm trying to do thicker lines by repeatedly going over it and thickening it (yes I repeatedly went over thickening those lines on the face like a retard, but again, that's why I'm doing this linework, to study and fail.)

And I recently did a value study with a 9B pencil and I think I can do that value exercise pretty well with that pencil.

I just don't understand where I'm supposed to put thicker lines until I pull my face away and realize I've fucked up.

Is there any tutorial on traditional painting style on digital without using a million layers and editing tools? Thank you anon, I tried to slow down and incorporate the idea of what you're telling me to the drawing, trying to have thicker lines where I feel there should be more weight and where two different objects meet and I think the left girl turned out a little better now.

And I figures out how to do a lighter stroke with them pen (use it sideways lol) and so I did the right girl with light + normal strokes. I'll continue to practice and improve.

I think it helps to do small drawing studies of parts of the painting and have them up as you paint, it's a good reminder of what you're going for as well as motivation to push through the ugly phase.

It comes from anything. He obviously has an understanding of the human body and anime is just a simplified style. It can be a crutch because you're relying on knowledge from another artist that makes slight mistakes in their drawings too.
Same thing happens when someone draws cartoons and incorporates it into a proportionally "realistic" body without mastery in the subject. It's still technically good but flawed.

There isn't inherently anything wrong with this mind you, because it can go both ways. Some atelier studio owning trad can end up as a human copy printer and lose the ability to draw from imagination, like what happened with Proko.

I personally think the artist is on the right track, and improvement can further be made.

-10 mins, ghost lines, practice confident single stroke turns
- 30 mins, pick 2 simple objects (cup, chair, tool), draw with ref
-15 min break
-30 mins, redraw both objects from memory, no ref
1 hour, lines only, no shading, 5 household objects with refs, 3 should be drawn through as if transparent.

Daily:
-10 mins, straight lines (ghost+ fast execute)
-10 mins, ellipses in boxes, between lines, in perspective
-10 mins, C curves, S curves, spirals, zigzags (aim to replicate as close as possible)
- No time limit, draw 10 ellipses, then redraw from memory
- No time limit, draw 5 boxes total from imagination (can mark vanishing points if needed) can mix and match, but try drawing atleast one with 1vp, 2vp and 3vp
- about 1 hour, choose 2 objects, redraw them with ref (15-20 mins each), put ref away/cover your drawing and redraw each from memory (15 mins each), light construction lines, push to capture proportion and specific curve identity
-30-40 mins, choose 1 simple form (mug, bottle, box, hammer), draw it at 4 different rotating angles (draw cube/rectangle to help facings), sketch lightly then clarify contour, at least 1 should be without refs or guides, occasionally rotate vertically
-60 mins, pick 3-5 household objects (no photoref), use draw through, rebuild form with basic primitives, show centerlines, crosscontours, elipses and axes, at least 1 object assymetrical
- 20-30 mins (5 mins per object), from memory (no references) redraw 4-6 objects, can be an object you drew before, No guidelines, just quick line sketch, if possible from multiple angles
-10 mins, sketchbook play.
- additionally, at the end of the week, redraw the object you felt was the best from memory and a different angle, then compare the two. Annoint where you feel both failed.
