Why is /int/ dying? The board has never been this slow before in our countries

The generals which were inflating the numbers are dying off. I suggested long ago that they should have their own board since they don't really participate on /int/ernational discussions and mostly stay in their own circles.

Back in 2012-ish the rivalry between 4chan and reddit was understandable, but these days reddit completely outranks 4chan.

problem with discord is you have to either try your luck with public servers or have friends that want you in their private servers. Private servers aren't great for meeting new people when you've known everyone for years and public servers are too fast to really have a proper conversation with anyone. Imageboards are the only type of website that I can think of that's publicly accessible with no barrier to entry where you can actually have decent conversations with strangers while being as anonymous as you want. all without too much tracking or forcing dumb recommendation algorithms down your throat.

To echo and summarize much of what has already been posted:
4chan is a millennial site that would have died in the mid-2010s if not for Trump-era censorship. In particular, the high school/college kids who would have have been Redditors jumped ship.

Now, Discord, TikTok, and Twitter all have minimal censorship and much easier, more engaging platforms to use. Nobody is choosing 4chan anymore.

I have been on 4chan since 2005. It is in it's worst state it's ever been right now and that's a mix of be being older and bored of this place but everything is just so hostile and repetitive.
