Hey guys I haven't checked in here in awhile. Just sorta got back into building kits again after a long break so I gotta work through my big backlog. I've got a godhand, NT cutter, and a thin raser file. Are these all still more or less top of the line or has some new better tools come out yet? You guys with experience with girlplas, how should I make clothes? I want to avoid using real fabric, and if possible, be consistent with the armor on the kits. Should I make epoxy putty "sheets" and cover/cut it to fit?

Shockingly good for something designed in 1997. It feels very well evolved from the build of the gundam 1.0. They feel like they were designed in the same way but this feels executed a lot better. I didn't even realize it was a 1997 kit until just now when I checked.
The manual is straight ass though. It feels very disorganized.

Paint isn't cured on the rifle. The rest of the paint was done a few days ago so I could panel line it without issues.

Judging by the position of the front skirts it seems like it won't have the limited range of movement of the legs the RG has. That was the one issue with the RG Exia.

My guesses are VP-4x, Tian-qiang and Firmeza. I am not sure which corresponding personalised mech would be most ideal for them, usually they have at least the head and legs swapped.

They have slowed down releases. Hopefully we will get one or two releases in March 2026.

We will probably still get vanilla versions of Nachtriecher and Wrecker.

Is there a model kit of the Vanguard (BT) or Monarch class from Titanfall 2?

Anyone have experience with sprue goo? How did you make it and did it work well?

I did it exactly as it says online and dissolved the runner pieces with tamiya thin and when I try to use the solution it always sets with bubbles because of the solvent evaporating inside the plastic. No matter how thin or thick I apply it, it even eats into the part and bubbles up there.
I've scoured the internet for solutions and no one really knows why its happening, they just say make a new batch, but it happens every time I make it.
The only tip I found that helped was to let it settle for 3 weeks and then use it. I tried that and it's still making bubbles, just less and bigger ones. But that can't be the solution because people seem to be using it immediately and not having problems.

I'm going insane trying to find the reason for it happening. The only way I can make it settle without bubbles is to make it extremely viscous with very little solvent, but at that point I can't even apply it anymore.

I have multiple theories to why its happening.

Not sure if it shouldn't work but yes they did change the formula. They now use something called KPS. Have you tried changing the cement to plastic ratio? Also try to maybe vent it out a bit like how paint decanting works.

I've tried from almost fully liquid all the way to it being so viscous it wouldnt even flow out of the mixing bottle. Only at the last stage it stopped making bubbles but at that point it was impossible to work with it because when I dip in a toothpick it would just pull out a string of plastic that solidifies instantly.

Interesting. Most of the guides I've found were for miniatures, but also some for gunpla so I was wondering about that.

Pure acetone seems to soften the plastic so it turns into a dough-like consistency and doesn't suspend everything into a liquid that I can drip on.
At this point it's less that I really need it, I've found that tamiya ca cement does the thing I want already. I'm more mad that it doesnt work and want to find out why.

Because the vast majority of Gunpla builders keep their models articulated. Volumetric painting won't work when you start reposing it, and any damage from abrasion is going to be way more noticeable on a paintjob like that

I lost one of the clear parts of my V2 Assasult Buster Ver Ka, specifically used for the metallic light blue sticker on the knee. Is there any suitable replacement for the clear part where the sticker goes? I don't mind painting it and rather not spending $80 for one part

Yes you will. I would test out the putty tho, those things have a shelf life. Mainly i would recommend you look up greenstuff (kneadatite) work from western wargamers(most will be warhammer related but the methodology can be transplanted to any theme). Plenty of tutorials out there made before the printers became mainstream.

Since this is biological (flesh compresses, stretches shifts with movement) you do not need to have absolute flawless symmetry so chill and simply get used to moving the material with a needle and a tooth pick. Unironically try pic related.
I mainlly recommend two things to start on putty work(yes now, any surface even paper).
1. Petrolium jelly
2. Timing
1)Getting some petrolium jelly (vaseline) to get around the problem of the material sticking to the tool.

Some tutorials claim water works but it depends on the putty. Milliput partially dissolves in water and does get smoothed out by it, it will not wicked witch of the west on you but the dissolved film does make for messy work. Water did not help much when working with greenstuff for me. Mileage may vary from putty to putty.
2) Putty hardens over time, at different hardening stages practicality of detailing changes. What you can't do at the start because the super soft putty ruins the previous work by being displaced by your tool can be done at the half chub timing (15-30 mins) where the putty will resist being moved around into places you do not want but can still be shaped by hard tools.

Unironically just rip the putty off. It is not super glue. Hell magic sculpt generally holds for me but if i try peeling it off it can come off without damaging the plastic wargame piece. Just do not surround the toy robot with a continuous ring of putty for a start.

you're probably never going to entirely get rid of bubbles from thick globs of styrene putty just because of how the material sets as the solvent evaporates. the same thing happens with big globs of most other types of liquid putty too, they're all only really good for surface work and small gap filling (e.g. seams) and often need multiple applications to fill a larger space.
what are you using it for anyway? i can't think of many use cases for sprue goo where a type of putty, ca glue, or even just surfacer 500 wouldn't do the job as well or better.

I am trying to paint ABS with acrylics. I tried in the past with brushes but it was not uniform. Yesterday I tried with sponges and the results were way better, but the colour is not uniform. Left piece was primed and I made three passes with the sponge, right is not coloured. I just finished building my first ever model kit (Fubuki Blast Guard from Kotobukiya)! It took me 20 hours and it's covered in nub marks and badly sanded parts but at least I did it
But god the posing on this kit is absolute dogshit. It keeps falling apart and putting weapons in the hands is horrible. The joints are also not strong enough to support the full equipment weight.
Still a great kit because it's Muv-Luv.

I find that most of the problems with the joints on these kits work themselves out during painting. Joints get tightened up with a couple layers. An easy fix would be to shove some blue tack into the joint hole. For the hands, use plastic cement. Bandai bases have a very slightly smaller peg so I find TSFs don't pose as well on them and work best with kotobukiya's own bases. Could try blue tack there as well but I find it doesn't hold as well when it's dealing with the full weight of the model rather than just a single joint. I haven't painted my Fubuki yet but it seemed fairly solid, besides the hands, out of box to me.
It's probably good this was one of your firsts so you're pretty much immune to the bandaibaby effect now

look up the line art/sprites and try to paint the extra color correction stuff before doing panel lining or top coating. If you do this you'll also want to a gloss coat over the painted parts before panel lining.

They included every part except for the one i needed.
The biggest problem is I need to go steal the middle part of the shields from 2 of my normal leos and then paint them to the leo-r and leo-s colors. The leo-n is running a two hander so he doesn't need a shield. but the other two ones are sitting there like retards with no shields. I think the inner part of the shield is yellow/gold for both the leo-s and leo-r so it's red/gold and teal/gold.

sort of. cement bonding isn't as strong as say ca glue and can be easily pulled aparr with force but yeah, generally you will leave it as is. I usually just commit to one or two loadouts with it but I have bags and bags of spare TSF weapons and takemikazuchi/shiranui hands at this point.
Painting depends on what's available to you locally. It's not a bad idea to take it slow to start and just color correct and weather for your first kit. I personally weathered/topcoated my first kit, then painted my next two with spray cans (I do not recommene this beyond trying it once as a step up to airbrushing) but color correction can be done fairly easily with whatever is available for you. See if you have any local hobby stores. afaik any acrylics from hobby brands like vallejo or tamiya would do the trick but maybe some other anon could chime in instead because I handpaint with Tamiya enamels.

Anyone know of a source for those shins missile pods of the GM Raid? You can get the weapons from that third party GM Spartan weapon set, might as well get the missiles and make an actual GM Raid kit.
