I'm guessing it's a deliberate choice that we don't yet know what kind of tech tree we're working with. It's surely going to lean more towards Zeon designs overall.
Intelligence is going to be very important for us as Ramba on the run. Artesia is going to be able to subtly divert attention from us here or there, but the former Luna forces at the very least will be hunting us down mercilessly. We need to avoid battles as much as possible until shit really goes down with Axis and we can start thinking about possible alliances of convenience.
I'm guessing some backwater colony Feddies like to forget exists like Side 1 or something is our best bet for a "base", or is it gonna be more like those character campaigns where you don't have territorial control, you just move between battles, as in the vanilla game?
Gotta say this is a banger campaign

Well I hit another bit of luck.

Not only did I find a Dreissen but the arms already fit the shoulder peg on the Gouf. I'll need to adjust a few things, but it's shockingly good for just smashing a few kits together so far.

The head is going to be really hard to figure out, but at least the rest will be easy.

Probably, I was going to model it more off of gouf heavy arms', but looking closer, I can probably chop these off and place them a bit better.
It kind of looks like just two big spikes on the shoulders in the image, but that may be the jank GG perspective. I'll be playing around with it.

Seeing how invested people get in these things is really inspiring. Makes me want to try something of an interactive narrative myself, but I've never GM'd anything and don't know enough Gundam minutia to make it as good as Copy and the others do.

Crazy that these guys have been at it for so long, and made so many meme-tastic character roles. This Char is definitely going on the list.

Baby steps, plan out a small campaign first, and let it grow organically. Make sure you don't give choices that you can't or won't accept writing unless you're going to end the route there (example: letting players make a human centipede).

Pretty much what >>23447636 said. Focus on simple stuff to start, don't go crazy overthinking things, and just let the plot write itself.

There is of course the extra aspect of being able to play the game, which I can't offer a ton on. That shit can be hard and I haven't solved it well enough to do any sort of run (the farthest I ever got was a zeon run that went into the zeta era, and I got bogged down)
As for the modding bit, that'll be made less of an issue as time goes on. Copy X plans on releasing a guide on how to mod the game like he does at some point in the future. But for now I guess just keep things simple, see if you can mod out pilots when you roll them "dying" in a battle since that isn't a normal feature of the game and keep things simple. The story is always gonna be more important than the game you're playing, as we're seeing it through a lens you create.

It'll certainly lean more towards Titans with mostly monoeyes and an occasional Gundam. Which I'm fine with. I've always liked the idea of Titans suits ending up back in Zeon. If we kick out these protectorate fucks, I hope we get to hold on to and develop those evil faced Gundams like the MK V, Quin Mantha, and fuck it, throw in the Zetas too. I feel those are distinctly Zeonic.

Not sure if it's the right place to ask but when it comes to playing gihren's greed is there a real strategy once you start losing steam?
I've had a few games where things are going great, but I just start lacking units to do harder pushes and things start to turn. Is there any ways to stall the AI while trying to rebuild or will they just infinitely build forever?

A period of downtime where you upgrade an existing army is fine, typically the enemy AI has a number of troops number that they will hover around and focus on tech instead of massing harder based on the number of territories they have and how many troops you've got stationed on their boarder.
If you want them to bleed troops keep your boarders with light crews with nearby death balls to swoop in and destroy any counter offensives they do since the AI likes to only send enough troops to barely win instead of death balls.

I'll be perfectly honest, I have NO idea how to scratchbuild a head.
Took me ages just to get the shape of the base of the head down (blame that on being unable to eyeball things for the life of me),and I'm not even entirely sure how to proceed from here. Otherwise I'm torn on following the shape of the Jamru Fin's head exactly or go for something just inspired by it to make it look more distinct (and give me a break from being exact).

Either way, I may need some guidance here.

Valid, but there's the larger issue with that of having no current way to get a Turn X head since that MG is near unobtainable rn and won't be printed for at least a few more months.
Regardless, I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew here, I'm hoping it's not the case, but I am kind of lost on how to go on for the moment.

Those are both decent ideas, but I don't think either have the right feel to it. And if I'm honest, I don't think the Jamru Fin does either. Maybe it's just how I see it but the way I perceive the head isn't really like a turn x either, it's sort of marasai-ish with it having a bit of a helmet and the monoeye beneath it. Not sure if that is more achievable with another suit or trying a more focused scratchbuilding process

Tried out the head as suggested and it's very... okay. It would need to have the top eye rail chopped off but it isn't that far off. However the rest of the head feels like the rest of the head would still require a LOT of fabricating stuff from scratch. So not sure this get's me much closer.

I'm gonna sleep on this and see if anything else comes to me, at minimum I have learned a little more about what does and doesn't work.

After sleeping on everything I have come to a realization.

I'm really stupid.

For the whole process of cutting out those plastic sheets I was using a cork backed metal ruler to help guide things. Which was a pain in the ass since it was never flush with the plastic, so I'm grabbing a shorter, non cork backed one soon.
On top of that, I'd been cutting them out with an xacto knife on said lines with no guide tape or anything, which isn't ideal and lead to a lot of clean up. So I may try to use one of my scriber and some guide tape to make this easier.
That and I think I somehow fucked up sanding it flush? The file is used ended up rounding the shape more than I wished since it had a bit of flex to it, so I'll do my best to use the flat sandpaper holder thing I grabbed awhile back.

I made a lot of minor mistakes that added up to make the whole process slow and difficult.

The Gorg's design has allowed it be unimpeded by Earth's gravity, no matter the environment. Its specialized armor frame also allows it to utilize its "Heat Hydra" weapon to aid in atmospheric reentry if needed. While an I-Field was far beyond the possibility of installing onto a Mobile Suit of its size, engineers have developed a special beam dispersal system on its arms to block incoming beam weapons, though this will also impede its own beam gattling guns equipped to its arms.

Always research every turn cheaper options are more efficient, so it is better to do 500, 500 than 1000, 0.
Don't Start with the EFF, the EFF campaign has a brutal start and requires playstyles completely independent of normal play.
Taking battles with minimal losses is more important than winning fast, the AI will produce way more unit than you can so taking battles where you don't lose anything is very important.
Always use your aces, make sure they're always piloting something Aces are a mechanic you can just miss if you're just starting up don't do that, they're a huge force multiplier and ace suits can do stupid things with good pilots in them.
The Titans, and Zeon Campaign are great starting points while the AEUG campaign starts in a spot that serves as a major trial by fire for the combat mechanics all 3 are good campaigns to start with.

Yep, the cheapest option gets you the most value for the money you put it. Due to that I suggest making sure to put investing in research and spying as a first things you do in a turn to avoid spending that money elsewhere by accident.
Always invest at least minimum research every turn, spending more is fine but never spend zero.

Depends on the model especially as Zeon. Zeon has a very fucked dev tree full of dead-end mobile suits and unnecessary upgrades. Most suits have local maximums that you just upgrade into and settle into until you get a new better option in the tech tree.
Specific Zeon Tech advice
Keep Zaku 1s for space combat as Zeon and use them to push the EFF back to Luna 2 and stick them on guard duty only upgrading them to Fs and maybe giving them the beam platforms if the EFF launches a counter offensive, on earth just stick with Zaku 2 Ground Types until you get Doms, outfit said Zaku 2s with Magella Attack Cannon and Dodai. Keep your Zakus that like that further upgrades are a money sink and usually less effective. After getting Doms just cruise on them. Dom Cannons are absurd to the point of being able to duke it out with early Gryps suits even and Rick Doms/Rick Dom 2s are great as well being similarly effective but needing to get into melee to fight making them less opressive.
Goufs kind of suck and are really just used for early ace suits and even then just use Dozle Custom Zakus they are more effective as an of fuck it's a Gundam/Gundive unit. Garma Custom Zaku's are the best early Zeon Ace suit for general use due to its perfect terrain stats so they can actually fight the enemies instead of slowly waddling through mountains.
Everything else is really to flavor or taste for the Land and Space battle.

So ace adapted suits don't have a limit on the number you're allowed to have they just have the condition of X pilot must be piloting Y mech then you can pay to turn it into their special ace custom. So, you can say make 3 Zaku 2 Commanders put Dozle in one turn it into a Dozle Custom, put him in the next turn it into a Custom and then turn the 3rd one into a Custom, the suit doesn't need Dozle to stay in it for it to be a Dozle Custom. The same is true for other ace suits so often times you can get a bigger power spike by having certain aces go around and retrofit a handful of suits into their specific custom for the rest of your army to use, the Dozle and Garma Zaku are the 2 big ones in the early game.
For others to look out for the Char's Rick Dom is ridiculous it has 45 Mobility and 1-2 Range, and the Zaku Desert Type (Blue Team Custom) for being a solid ace suit that can ride on a Dodai, likewise with their Gelgoog being the only Ace Gelgoog that can ride a flight craft. After the one-year war Zeon Custom variants fall off a cliff for obvious reason.

Feel free to try other shit YMMV and all that, I just see the Gouf as an awkward middle step that isn't around long enough to bother investing in beyond limit runs for purely aces and the Gyan/Gelgoog as coming too late in my runs to really matter if I even have their tech unlocked before the Feds are squashed. They're really more of a civil war scenario set of suits for when you're playing as Garma's Zeon or as Kycilia's Zeon.
For event bullshit.
EXAM suits are really cool but to even get them you need to throw a Newtype into the Newtype thresh.
The IGLOO tech is mostly bad outside of the Ze'gok which is clunky but extremely powerful.
The Apsalus is a money hole for a shittier Ze'gok, that requires you to sacrifice Norris for it.
The Unified Complete Equipment Plan and Pezun Project are great and give new useful options.
Juagg's the only notable Jaburo Invasion MS and is great at punishing Gryps era fliers by shooting them from underwater where they can't fight back, mass it if you want to do the cheeky Jaburo back cap.

Early game its fine to dump full into tech when you've got lots of money and its cheap, but as it gets more costly use low/middle spending to get to the edge of the tech level and then do high spending to get the most out of it going into the next tech level.

He's not covering a lot of trash zeon ms and the gelgoog does have some pretty decent use cases (it rules the first five turns of space for tem ray's army) but it takes a while to get while not being much better than other late OYW MS. Its tech tree also kinda just ends after you get its parade of aces, while the zaku keeps on going to the hizack.
In general though, you want to have a mixed arms force with range 1 tanks, 2-4 range units, carriers and minovisky spreaders, and some aces to kill enemy aces/difficult stuff

Or if you're really struggling to win, just get a unit with a MAP attack such as the big zam, sit it on a control node and fire the MAP attack as much as possible. The big zam is usable until you either have opponents with mass NT weapons or late gryps/neo zeon war era in general.

Or just turn evil and spam nukes assuming you aren't playing in the OYW and have event locks on nukes, the nuke units are effective until CCA honestly and superweapons can be utilized to wipe enemy armies

Hizack Customs until the Axis tech tree kicks in, with Doms of some form to blot out the sun for any anti-beam suits you encounter. Zeon's early post one year war tech tree is very light on new things for you so spamming Hizacks is really the only option since its a decent suit with a highly accurate gun so it's always effective in large enough numbers since their main guns have 90 base accuracy.

Post OYW in general sucks for OYW factions less so for Zeon since Zeon has its tech spaced a bit better, but the EFF literally has to go from fighting with GM Powereds the Stardust Memory Grunt to using Xekus the post Gryps conflict mech. Really both factions just need to leverage their huge resource lead you have from being 100+ turns into a campaign already.

While we're at it, any thoughts about a GGen styled campaign mod? The last GGen that made UC and AU factions slam against each other covered up to CE. Come to think of it, it would be nice to have Wing/IBO/CE factions fill out the AU bits but remove Moonrace.
We can also have TBverse Anaheim as its own faction since they become the Titans in their timeline with a fleet of ultrasized Big Zam battleships
I know some folks are just salivating to see Treize work his political magic on the Seven Stars houses.

Alternatively:
UC-AU Jupiter sphere campaign? Various Zeon/Titans factions tangling with IBO's yakuzas and pirates and Jupiter's knockoff North Korea?

Hizacks are cost effective when you swap to their beam rifle instead of the machine gun. Hizack Customs are great midrange units. Act Zakus are nice limited production earth units but lose potency pretty quickly.
Ace-wise NTs go into OYW NT machines like the elmeth or zeong, non NTs go into johnny ridden's gelgoog or high spec doms, or just whatever ace use machine's you've got left over. If you win the OYW fast enough you can get some cool bonus machines, but chances are you won't get them all. Like the other guy says the absurd amount of resources you get in the transition from the OYW to post war should be what really saves you.

Zeon fights titans + aueg then axis, then char. Main issue is maintaining momentum until you can reliably kill gaza d and stronger units, or if you fuck up fighting the titans barzams
EFF fights delaz fleet, then axis, then either aueg or titans, then char
If you are really fucked you can stall against delaz, but everything after axis is a victory lap


In general tho on the ground Z'Gok-E's and Dom Cannons can last you a long ass time, while in space Hizacks and Gelgoogs can cope against Gaza C's/Nemos/Other Hizacks but you'll need to use your numbers advantage while it exists to push out enemies

Alright been messing around more with GG in a new Zeon campaign. I was retarded af at the start (got bogged down in New Yark for like 10 turns due to the enemy posting a gundam in the sea tile base and just staying there until I could gun it down from the air) but I feel like things are starting to swing my way. With the only exception being in how fast the feddies are already catching up. I've only JUST started to research my Doms around turn 30 or so and they're already tossing GMs and their variants at me. Am I stupid for letting this get this far, or is this pretty standard for playing on Normal difficulty?

The Feddies can get early GM types up and running pretty fast and yes they are noticeably better than your equivalents you should be fine once you get Dom production up and running for fighting them off, Dom Cannons are so absurd they'll run over anything the EFF throws at you grunt wise on the ground, while in space the Rick Doms are perfectly sufficient vs EFF troops especially when back up by a full Squad or 2 of Aces in Rick Dom Char Customs.
As for other Dom versions no both the Black Tri Star Dom and Ramba Ral's Dom compare poorly to other ace suit options you have like the fearsome Zock or Efreet

I diverted most of my landing to America which was a slight mistake as it took a few extra turns to take Odessa (the Feds had a submarine so I had to cap the whole map) then the invasion forces for America made a b-line for cali since it was at the point where they could start building units. Shit got bogged down due to all the fighter bombers they sent out, so I had to huddle down on a few points. After all that shit, I tried to take New Yark but had to huddle down again on the first point after the Feds blotted out the sun with air units. Then on the turn before I took out the last land unit, they started sending in shit from the Atlantic tiles and it became a near endless cycle of random shit to technically hold the point.

How many aces you actually have and what they'll be doing.
Something you should keep in mind is that aces sitting on their ass in a base are just a waste of a slot; they should always be on the offensives, rescuing a territory under attack, etc unless their fatigue is stupidly high.
Hell, if you've got enough spare ace MS you could keep spares in their carrier for them to swap in to when their current MS is low on hp.

But really, the sheer number also matters; if you play as a faction with a ton of aces (zeon) then you'll run out of ace MS and need to put people in whatever you can.

Regardless, just try and work to the stats the ace has. People with high range get in an MS with a good ranged weapon, etc.

Also, pay attention to the leadership and charisma stats of units. Charisma affects units in their stack, leadership affects units in their leadership range; higher ranked characters override the bonus of lower ranked ones, so don't ever willingly put someone like gopp near other aces.

An update for a mechanic for this campaign [with a revised version of being planned for another work down the line if we get there].

[Purification]

While on the battlefield and within 10 spaces of enemy ace pilots, "Machu" will cancel the death roll for enemy pilots. If an enemy ace is shot down while "Machu" is within this range though, she can spend "Purification points" to touch the enemy aces soul to reach an understanding. Depending on the level of hatred, zeal and/or fanaticism, it will require more purification points to reach this understanding.

[RULES]

1."Machu" will spawn with 5 purification points. Every 10 turns in game, she will gain a new purification point to use. She can have 10 maximum. Additional purification points can be gained from ingame events.

At 10/10 purity, every turn a random roll will occur to determine if "Machu" will return to being Amate. Should this occur, she will respawn as a "Amate" with new stats. Purity mechanic will cease to function should this occur, but Amate will be restored to her original self prior to the Dakar incident.

2.Purity points can be lost should an allied ace be killed in battle while she is within 10 spaces of them. Certain aces have far more severe purity point loss damage should they be killed.

Obviously, the moral thing to do is not use purify at all. But I expect one or two cases too good to pass up will present themselves. I would say we should only recruit those that give us good value. Forget about idiots like Jamaican or Bask unless you are purely doing it for laughs. We want people like Jerid, Emma, and Reccoa who are at least kind of competent, but not viciously ideological. Jerid hasn't gone through his arc of becoming an embittered husk yet after all, and he is legitimately a good pilot when not fighting anyone named Kamille.
Shiiko is a possibility too?
Cybers are probably going to be too expensive. We'll see. Someone like Sarah is quite stable and fine, Zero or Rosamia would be harder.
I am guessing both Casval and Nyaan would cost a full 10 points each. 8 at the very least.
As a general rule we should try to never dip below 6 if we can help it. At 6 points, we can survive the worst single thing that can happen (Deux dying). If that is followed up immediately by an event or a fight with Nyaan that drops us a point, it just wasn't meant to be.
I'm guessing if Machu is at 1 point and then Deux dies, she has to win five coinflips in a row to survive that. We cannot go below 6 unless we have a great opportunity imo. Finally, get Amate back before the end.

To your first question; it is potentially detrimental to have her in battle at all given how she mentally operates now. If you want to actually have an enemy ace killed by the normal Endurance mechanic, she will need to be far enough away that she mentally can not stop her allies from finishing off enemy aces. Make no mistake, /m/en. There is a very long recharge on doing any purification with Machu. Don't expect us to do it more than once in each story arc basically. And even if we only do it once per arc, that probably precludes any chance of recovering Amate before the run ends.
What I'm really trying to reiterate is, do not waste it on anyone you don't think is very important to our run. Don't purify someone just because it seems convenient in the moment or because we need more warm bodies. It's for the most valuable options only.

The Deep Diver ghosts could still be lingering around her given how she unshackled them from the murderbot keeping them in a state of endless spite. As for unretarding Amame it really comes down to how she is acting. If it’s just her being like how Karala was in Thunderbolt then it might be better to just keep her in that state of bliss. If it’s actively hellish and she shows signs of hating it then we can actively ignore purification for her sake.
