DD suddenly remembered it has Shin Jeeg in its main cast list this update so maybe they'll get off their asses and make a new arrangement of Dead or Alive for an event.

If the primary means of increasing difficulty is just giving enemies upgrade bars then it's the same shit as hard mode in OG has been forever and the start of those games isn't total CBT.

I played T and that was a blast! 30 on Hard wrecked me. I just could not get a good start in that game which is why I never replayed it as Az despite her having the better song of the two protagonists.

For Y, as far as the demo is concerned, Hard is a cakewalk. Max the Lunedrache's mobility and you'll never be hit. By anything. Afterward dump all of your credits into the A. Advent to get the +500 MXP bonus at the end of every map. Dynazenon, much like Gridman in the previous game, just deletes enemies without trying. And Getter is ALWAYS a top tier unit so, yeah.

Expert might sing another tune. I look forward to running through the demo again tonight just to see. But I really recommend at least going on Hard. You won't respect Normal.

The vast majority of the "buffs" are akin to equipping a Chobham Armor or Magnetic Coating on the upper end. Accuracy on a whole was increased but that's just them setting it to what it should have been from the outset when they changed underlying mechanics. The deal that Nue/Big West cut with HG was apparently that HG would back the fuck off from anything not original/DYRL, and in exchange would be allowed to continue to pander Robotech -- but also that in exchange for them being Nue/Big West's official distributor in the US they would comply with efforts to exploit the original/DYRL IP without fucking with it in nefarious ways.

For 95% of the cast, there's no meaningful difference between 6 and 8 skill slots. The enemy bosses are the ones who benefit from it more than you do since that allows them to do stupid shit like throw Extreme + Genius on a Stage 6 boss.

What breaks Saisei's difficulty in half is the sheer amount of resources they dump at you to justify the fact that you're using Hakai endgame level deploy counts roughly 25% of the way into the game. Combine that with data transfer from Hakai and its pretty much over for the game before it began.

PUs are very important for raising the level average and there's only a handful of cases before you reach a level average of 30 where its worth going solo. EN Costs are high but nothing too hard to deal with (Jeeg has comically expensive combo attacks but they almost entirely spam Knuckle Bomber or Jeeg Drill so who cares). So its really just the insane terrain penalties that you have to worry about and mostly on Stage 19. The second time you return to space, you should have enough Thruster Modules to salvage like 8 units.

Hakai buffing Fighter's Spirit to +10 is probably the most impactful change they made despite it being so innocuous in design.

While it's highly unlikely they did something like this, I thought of an interesting way DLC stages could be implemented to mitigate some of the issues with them feeling disjointed plot-wise: if you have a DLC pack, some of the stages it adds would be replacements to stages on a normal playthrough that gives one of the DLC series a big moment within it, rather than just piping up on the sidelines like in 30.

So like, if you have the Noir DLC, a later stage in the game that was Arc plot + Kaiser plot or something changes up the plot a little bit to include some type of power-up/combo/whatever kinda plot moment to make Noir shine a bit more and make it seem more a part of the main plotlines Y has.

At the time ADV was actually close to releasing Macross Zero stateside, and had already gotten the all-green from HG wrt their trademark. But when BW/Nue heard about that, it was them that cut the deal off.

Finally, after another decade (almost two), both HG and BW/Nue managed to reach a settlement to break the impasse. BW/Nue was going to recognize HG's claims to wider rights on parts of the Macross IP belonging with the original SDF series (thus by extension also DYRL) and HG was not going to apply fuckery with their bogus trademark.

Tie into the lore of other franchises if you have to, actually explain some of the shit that's been happening before you're "tested" by Emperor where it's neither a fully adversarial nor surrendering relationship, where it's an actual dialogue with it like what Baku was trying to do with it earlier. He gave his assurance, and we're supposed to see that Getter Emperor can be changed from the inside.

The L-Gaim cast are all "aliens" because they originate from a different solar system (Pentagona) even if they look identical to earthlings
They even comment on this in 30 by talking about how they had to create a translator to comunicate with them at first (although this plot point is forgotten one stage later)

I do like what V and T tried to honestly, is not always just adapting the whole series but also taking liberties with it.
V tried to a more abridged version of the second half which I could understand seeing how many Z3 assets they just simply reused. With T we had a version of the events done in the pre-time skip era which was kind of cool and gave us some time with Musashi as well.

My grip is 30 as a whole, it didn't really do anything with Getter and gave us one of the most baffling takes as a whole with giving us two Shin Dragons and just throwing Cowen and Stinger fight out of nowhere in DLC of all things.
