I want an American version of Bakuon.
The Hane-like character rides an 883 Sportster.
The Onsa-like character rides an Indian FTR.
The Rin-like character rides a Buell.
The Hijiri-like character would start off on a Coleman branded street modified ATV, then end up getting a ghetto stretched Hayabusa that she crashes all the time.
The Chisame-like character rides a CanAm Ryker
Raimu-like would probably still ride a Kawasaki, only it would have a hammered gas tank for stunting with the broken plastics held together by zip ties and bumper stickers.
Season 1 they visit the Dragon, and after nearly dying every time an old guy in a Corvette or some douche in a Jeep crosses the centerline in a corner they discover how nice the Cherohala Skyway and Blueridge Parkway are instead.

Rode my new bike for the second time today!
Mostly just practicing in the parking lots of an empty office building.
This is fun. I waved at a guy on a bike going by and he made a gesture back at me (a good one).

Still having difficulty starting from a stop without stalling. I appreciate my car more and more after dealing with the bike, I can't imagine dealing with downtown traffic and weird intersections yet, while also trying not to stall. Throttledown-clutch-downshift-brake-throttleup-clutch-go still feels like a voodoo ritual or a fighting game combo, and I haven't touched the rear brake yet at all. I don't want to go into town in traffic yet and risk snarling everyone up or causing dangerous situations stalling, so I'll try to practice a little more, first.

In other news I was in downtown in my car and saw the most ripped ex-military guy imaginable putting around on a scooter, chewing gum helmetless and looking like Duke Nukem. Suddenly I have more respect for those things.

What does cam chain slap sound like? What does an engine that's skipped a tooth sound like? had to change a starter, which requires removing and re-installing the cam chain tensioner. followed all the steps but can't shake the feeling I fucked it up. I adjusted the idle mixture, had to bring the idle RPM up etc. and it started, idled, ran pretty well - but I'm second guessing myself, thinking the noise was too loud or something

Sounds like a rattle or tapping sound. Sometimes when the tensioners go back it'll sound like a whine when you're accelerating.
If you just pulled it out and put it back in, followed the right procedures, you're fine. The chain won't skip if you just pull the tensioner out and put it right back in

XSR. Better suspensions, cheaper to run. Aesthetically they both appeal to me. The legroom is abysmal on the SV650X if your inseem is longer than 28".
They both lack a top end but the XSR has a flatter powerband that makes it more fun.

Unless you have a dedicated stunt bike, a robust bank account or generational wealth this is ABSOLUTELY stupid. I've talked to technicians at dealerships and they've all agreed that this puts stress in the block that is not accounted for when engineering the whole bank.

TL;DR: whole block is going to be leaking oil after a couple of wheelies because the gaskets are not engineered for all-of-a-sudden-torque charges. Looks cool, but the machinery in your motorcycle won't like it. I treat my block like I'd treat the mother of my kids, I don't know about you.

Also, something about naked bikes just doesn't feel right to me, with there being no cockpit. Just a small cluster and then it dumps off to the wheel, no windscreen. The Aprilia Tuono feels nice because it has a cockpit. The ergos of naked bikes are too relaxed for me. I constantly find myself trying to get down lower when I ride one and I just can't. Bars are right there pushing me up. Can't imagine how cruisers feel. Lol. I need to ride one and see what it's like.

Assuming your bike doesn’t have a capacitor (which usually just kickstart trial bikes have INSTEAD of a battery), the electricity from the alternator goes through the regulator/rectifier, then the battery and then the coil/sparkplug.
If the battery isn’t connected like in your case, the circuit is not complete.

That's not even as bad as what I have to ride on- chip seal. Even worse the shoulder is limestone rocks about a half inch in diameter. Long wheelbase vehicles (like trucks in the country) cut the inside of tight corners and kick those rocks into the road. So tight corners all have gravel strewn across randomly. To survive you need to enter every corner assuming you'll encounter gravel midway through.

Being able to operate a manual car is the most useful you could transfer to your new form of transport. I went bike car (and thense bike car bike a lot) In a car all the processes are similar but the tools aren't.
I predict a ten minute practice session (call it an hour) should get you mobile.

Idk where to start so I'll just go on a rant.
Right off the bat the 929 is fucking comfy. Unbelievably comfortable for a true sport bike, im 6' flat at 180 and compared to gsxrs, ducs, r6/1, the blade is just COMFY bros. The pegs and bars are placed like goldilocks.
Compared to even the 954 which many paper staters would say is even better however that's not quite the case

954 has a more geometric tank, very uncomfortable compared to the soft flowing bulbous tank of the 929.
954 has 5 dogs in the gearbox compared to the 929 having 6, this was done as weight reduction but this change caused 2nd and 4th gear issues for the 954.
I have all the power on tap, unrestricted, untamed, every input that I ALONE feed will give a direct and immediate feedback from my actions. For better and for worse, a true testament to becoming one with your machine.

I have a fucking trunk that makes crusiers blush with the sheer capacity of it.
It's just a light weight weapon of a bike, I think the craziest thing about the 929 is it weighs ONLY 4 POUNDS MORE THAN A 600RR WITH NEAR-TWICE THE POWER

As for riding experience as a whole, the 929 is very much playing into the Smooth Excellence model that Honda is known for. All of their bikes are smooth but the 929s I4 is a unique barrel of joy. Below 4k rpm, it's tame and friendly. Like a good friend that's a supportive listener, ready to go with you whenever you're ready.

But 4200 rpm? The moment you reach that point in the powerband it transforms like a Lycanthrope.

This is a cringe reference but it's the best way to get my point across. At 5000rpm in a corner, it feels like you're standing on Rick and Mortys "Perfectly Level Floor" it genuinely feels like you're a genie floating across the pavement.

Other bikes make you feel like you're swimming on land rushing against the current. The 929 makes you feel like you're flying with near 0 turbulence friction.

I admit I still haven't tapped into all of the 929s power. Currently I've only mastered 60% of this bikes capabilities but plan to never let it go.

>but it's much easier to evade things since a bicycle is 10 times lighter than a motorcycle.
Yes and no. You'll be surprised at how agile a motorcycle is once it's moving, and you've got much better tires and brakes than a bicycle. You'll also be going the same speed as cars, which means the risks are different from on a bike where you're way slower than them, and you have the ability to accelerate out of certain situations.

One underrated thing you probably get from bicycle riding is that you'll be past the point of caring so much about pissing off traffic behind you. One of the worst things for me as a new rider is having cars behind me that I know want to go faster but I can't because I need to keep a safe following distance, or the road conditions are sketchy on a bike, or I just physically can't go faster on my 300, or whatever, but cyclists are probably already used to holding traffic up way worse and not giving a fuck about it.

Way out of my range unfortunately, I'm in Central Oregon. I'm also ~120mi from the break-in oil change and just want to get that knocked off so I can start using all the RPMs, having to keep them down is really limiting where I can go because I can't do more than 55mph uphill or 70mph on flat ground and traffic moves way faster than that here, and there aren't really slow back road alternatives to the highways. (Even the non-highway roads are mostly straight for 15-20mi out of town and everybody wants to do 75-80 on them, or they're steep enough I can barely do 50-55 and people want to go 65-70.)

You can get an XR1200 but don't expect to be able to find parts forever. There's some overlap with the rest of the sporties on structural/frame components but there were enough one-off interal parts that other owners are reporting difficulty finding what they need. Only going to get worse from here.
Nightster 975 puts up outstanding performance for a factory Harley (still objectively mid at best, but getting better), but makes it painfully obvious that they haven't yet figured out how to completely modernize their lineup. Anybody else in the world could've built a better looking left side on that bike, it's actually vulgar in a bad way. I think they've totally committed to RevMax bike at this point and they really need to. I don't know how long it will take for the aftermarket to catch up, there's some guys like Kruesi out there pushing the scene forward and actually making Nightster look cool, but it's not enough. Meanwhile there's still so many Evo Sporties out there and still trading hands. If I can make 1000 toobs a month and my goal is to sell all of them, how many should I make for the Evo vs RevMax? I don't think anyone knows the magic number yet which puts the 3rd party guys in a tough spot.

Do some clutch drills. Sit with your bike in gear on a flat surface without any brakes engaged or you'll probably stall, sit at idle and ease the clutch out until you can feel the clutch engaging and the engine come under load. Pull the clutch back in and go again. Do that until you start to really get a feel for where in the lever's travel the clutch starts to bite. After that, just practice slow starts with just the clutch from stationary. I did this a lot when I was learning, and it helped me translate my clutch sense from manual cars to bikes a lot faster. Should help with your stalling issue. Just keep practicing. If you haven't driven manual cars much before getting the order down especially can be intimidating, but it'll be second nature with enough practice. Going from stationary to moving is the hardest bit. Shifting at speed is way easier.

Dude... where is this!? That's a helluva view! I'd like to look into traveling by bike. I think it might be more up my alley anyway. I "travel" for work in a semi, so I'm used to packing light. I could easily enough put everything I need for a week or just over that into a backpack, and then I'd just need to sort out my camera options.

Bro, I just turned 40 after finding myself "back on the hunt" after 14 years.

Yes, it still happens. It's part of the thrill man! Embrace that shit. Learn how attraction works in women (from a respectable, male, source, not the pickup artists [I'd point you in the direction of Dan Bacon on YT]). Learn how that shit works and re-fucking-lax... and enjoy them flutterbies.

I've never been bothered or anything by a rider parking up on the sidewalk like this. I don't know why anyone would.
