I hope I get the chance to do the same with more weekend trips, I find a lot of value in conveying the emotions of how something made you feel in your editing to preserve that joy for years to come.
I can see a little bit of that in your video too. How you cut to most of the redlining, the parts you remembered and cherished most, how nothing else mattered but the fun. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Ride safe and have fun

>>28516647I'm one of those, the transmission of my Gucci is worse than the one in my Ural.
That being said, Ural transmissions are actually pretty good, you just have to be gentle with them.
By gentle I don't mean you have to walk on eggshells with them, or in a sense you do, but I mean the shifter is extremely sensitive in them and the motion is tiny.
You just ha e to tap the shifter and it goes into gear.
It's a really weird feeling as you can't really kick it home or you'll in the worst case fuck up the shifter forks, you just have to gently press on the shifter and it'll click into gear neatly. Takes some getting used to, but they're incredibly smooth and neat switching transmissions.
The handle on the right side is also a big plus as you can switch gears by hand and "hop over" gears like from 1st straight to 3rd for example.
Meanwhile in my MG California you have to properly stomp on the shifter to send it into gear like on some ragged on dirt bike, no chance in hell on hitting neutral with the engine running and even when off it's a very rough shifting transmission.

>>28516897>>28516901Yeah the battery recharged is included in the inspection. Fluids are included but valves are not. Billing it as a 50 point inspection. He will sync the carbs since theyโre coming out/apart.
Thanks for the input anons, i didnโt think it was a rip off but itโs certainly expensive
>>28516931>he lets other men fuck his bikeYou got what you deserve
>>28516935First service, never again.
>>28516935>>28516936Also, I bought new (and got what I deserved)
>>28516936Did he botch the valve clearance job and mess up the timing or something? Or just didn't set the valves right? As a mechanic it's one of the most straightforward jobs you can do, idk how you can mess it up
>>28516915Sporton. Nortster.
>>28516728I refuse to accept it till it is past the 30th of next month. Then it is time for a cb250 or cb300r.
>>28516923The two times I've taken in bikes for their 600 mile shennanigans at the dealerships, they've had to stay there for almost a week, when all it it entails is dealer software tool fuckery and an oil change. Doesn't even include properly tightening all the bolts.
For tires, spoons, a bucket, a balance stand and an air compressor are incredibly cheap.
To be honest, the most complicated thing for me has always been finding a place to dispose of the old tires. Some car tyre shops claim they take them, but then when I show up willing to pay the disposal fee they say they don't take motorcycle tires. So I just sneak in at night and throw mine into the pile behind the building anyways.
>>28516934I'm still confused as to the battery recharge. like, they put the battery on a tender, refilled the acid/water? Cleaned the posts? That hardly warrants being on a billing sheet but whatever.
>>28516942Folded the valve cover gasket and the bike pissed oil all over my new rear tire on the way home.
It was the break-in service, all highway miles, hadn't even visited the touge yet.
>>28516935nowadays stealerships will NOT honor a warranty if you dont complete the services with them. the bike is connected to a scanner which then creates a profile. if you come afterwards with a warranty claim and they see at least one of the scheduled services missing they will not help you. ALWAYS take your bikes to the dealer during their warranty periods
>>28516947>like, they put the battery on a tender, refilled the acid/water? Cleaned the posts? That hardly warrants being on a billing sheet but whateverThats what I was saying to anon too. Like that should usually be itemized as a multi point inspection like a tire inspection, radiator inspection, and brake fluid inspection are just called a multi point.
>>28516942>>28516950On mine they left the bolts to the dealer installed skid plate loose and it nearly came off on the highway.
KTM hires chimpanzees to work on their bikes.
>>28516954if i told you the things ive seen at suzuki dealerships you would laugh
>>28516951Not me, I'm in magnuson-moss land, so I didn't even have to get my first service at the dealer but I wanted the valve lash checked, etc. Dude says they were all tight, but he was such a fuckhead I'm not so sure now...
>>28516951>give us more money or we won't honor your freeโข gaurantee goyStill not doing it. Stealerships can eat shit, last time I was in to buy new they asked me not less than 5 times to sign up for their service. It's a grift, and if I lose out on a warranty claim blue ball those jews then I'll gladly do it. Fucking nigger behavior
>>28516954Slick. Also
>mounting a skid plate to the engineJust KTM things...
>>28516954Tbf those bolts shook loose on my bike even when I torqued then to spec. Jeet hardware leaves a lot to be desired, and you're not supposed to loctite them so the dealership wouldn't even if they know they might come loose. I just put some red on it and accepted the fact that I'll have to work around it for oil changes
>>28516951>will NOT honor a warranty if you dont complete the services with them1. That's illegal as shit, but so what, you going to pony up for a lawyer
2. It also means they don't expect to ever have you buy another bike from them. Because if I'm the salesman and I hear the shop is fucking a future $10k sale to save $400 today, well, guess I didn't want that $10k. Hell, shop manager might even be fucking up and driving furure shop work away too.
>>28516956>>28516958dealerships are literal banks nowadays. they earn way more by servicing bikes and financing them than just selling them cash and thats a fact
>>28516961The engines on KTMs (at least all the ones I've seen) are stressed members. I get why people would rather it go onto the frame, but certainly for street bike or light adv stuff it's totally fine
>>28516965Tell me about it. I went in to buy a 400 cash in hand and they kept trying to convince me to finance with then anyway. Like, I'm holding cold hard cash in my hand, man, why are you asking me to go through the rigamaroll, just give me the dam bike
>>28516964EU vs US, for now. The US Government is having a fit of reversing all consumer protections ATM (all protections of any kind, really) so don't know how long it will last. I fully expect to be required to have Amazon Prime and a Starlink subscription to get my baiku serviced by this time next year.
>>28516956>I'm in magnuson-moss land,Which means you have to hire a jew to sue the dealership and prolong the entire thing for several months to years.
Getting them to honour warranties is bad enough with them doing the service, not getting the break-in done with them gives them an easy excuse to initially deny the claim leading the my former point.
>>28516971It's mad what the EU allows shops and dealers to get away with, but for them they really wouldn't have a better way to enforce their modification restrictions
>>28516969lmao i tell you the kikes really dont want your cash, all theyre looking for is how to create more debt
>>28516947>>28516952To clarify, thats not on the billing sheet. I mention it because the dead battery was part of the reason i had to bring it in
>>28516972No, what it means is that if a dealer or manufacturer gives me any trouble I file a complaint with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair and they send a letter to the dealer and the dealer apologizes and does what ever he's supposed to.
I don't know how it works in other states, because I don't live in other states.
>>28516961same thing with ducatis. the engine is part of the frame
>>28516402>he posted my XSRGood looking bike isn't it anon? Going to be hard to part with.
>>28516969>why are you asking me to go through the rigamarollBecause if they convince you that you can keep that cash in hand and finance at 7% over 3 years with no money down, they can turn a $10k bike into $11k. $12k if they talk you into a 5 year loan.
>>28516972nice doggo motorrad anon. we should be sharing more doggos and cats
>>28516985Oh ok.
>>28516969Dealership I went to to buy my rebel 300 did that, this is also the dealership where its been for 2+ months getting repaired for lowsiding.
It was a 4k bike. Lmao.
>>28516947> they've had to stay there for almost a weekThe first thing I ever ask when taking my bike in for work is when I can expect it back, and if it isnโt within the day I go somewhere else. I do pretty much all the work myself anyways so this is usually pretty easy to achieve. Would not bother going somewhere where I donโt know when Iโm gonna get my bike back
Anyone know how I can definitively diagnose a bad ignitor or signal generator?
Only one of the coil packs is firing (swap the wires and the other coil pack fires) so I don't know if its the ignitor, signal generator, or I'm missing a bad connection somewhere.
Can I simply plug my test light into the signal gen wire to see if it sends a signal twice per revolution or would that kill my test light?
>>28515896Thanks anon. I love it.
>>28516664i love my mt07. it'll pop up in 3rd or 4th no problem and wheelie down the highway. haven't ridden a cp3 but the cp2 is more than capable. thing about bikes like mt or xsr is if you want to go really fast you're better off getting something faired w/a windscreen so you can tuck. the mt07 is not all that pleasant above 100, but between 0-100 it is a blast. bonus for no tcs, no power modes, no bullshit.
>>28517028>the mt07 is not all that pleasant above 100, but between 0-100 it is a blast.I have a small windscreen on my XSR900 and it does help. If you're wearing a helmet and a real jacket, you can tuck in a bit and it keeps it comfortable a little higher. 110-115 or so. Above 120 it still gets less fun. I think 132 is the max speed I've hit and yeah if you want to go that fast regularly or for extended periods, you probably want full fairings.
If you just want to make the occasional 120mph pass or a top speed run on empty sections of highway, just a small screen and decent gear will do for sure.
>>28517039Yeah Iโve only had this lil shitter for a couple months, traded a zx6r (right before the bearing stuff came out by freakish luck) and yeahโฆthereโs zero comparison for me, based on what Iโve ridden. Biker is in an HOV lane (illegal in some states)
Biker is using the HOV lane to weave and pass traffic (multiple times in the video)
Biker also nearly ran the SUV at the start onto the shoulder when he took up like 1/3 of the lane to pass him.
Biker was also trying to lane split on a double solid white line which in a lot of states is illegal
Sedan was leaving the HOV lane at a double white which is usually always illegal
Sedan didn't have his blinkers on for at least 200 feet before changing lane
Biker must not have been paying attention either as he kept going straight on the double white as that sedan was turning into him
>>28517209>illegal in some statesReally? Had no idea. Kind of balls because that's what makes commuting on a bike worth it. Fuel savings is kinda nice too I guess
Has anyone here every imported a bike into Japan from America? I have some questions;
What kind of cost should I be expecting to have it shipped from west coast of USA to any Japan port? Is it possible to book passage on the same ship for myself? How much is all the insurance+misc. paperwork going to cost to get it street legal in Japan?
My plan at the moment is to ride my DR650 cross country to the west coast port then ship myself+bike to Japan to ride it there for at least 3-6 months (longer if I can get visa extension).
I am not interested in renting a bike and flying there. I want to bring my own bike.
>>28517207Bmw g310r, BMW f450gs, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
>>28517218It's basically like two states that don't allow it.
>>28517220Oh and anything I should pack with bike? I figured it'd be easy enough to source any parts once I'm there considering it's a Japanese bike. But can't be too careful.
Are they going to tear my bike down for customs or anything like that? I plan on having it fully loaded with tools, luggage and all the usual stuff. What about fluids? I know I have to drain gasoline but oil and everything else is okay as-is, right?
>>28517165>>28517209I'm pretty sure the 4runner in the beginning was slowing down because the traffic in front of him was slowing down, and it looks like he was making space for the bike. The sedan was some mystery meat in a hurry driving like a tard. That being said, the bike had a lifetime to avoid that collision.
>>28517222I would upgrade to an FZ07 or FZ09.
>>28517220Canโt be done direct to Japan
Take a small plane from Alaska to Russia, then ride down and take a ferry that allows motor vehicles for example from South Korea perhaps there is one
>>28517222forgot to check those trips
checked
>>28517209California plates in the video. HOV and splitting are expected here. Biker is retarded for not seeing the sedan getting ready to get out of the HOV lane, but that nice wide double-white is basically made for lane splitting.
Got an insurance quote today for a few bikes I was looking at. They wanted nearly $100 more a month. Looks like I'm not becoming a biker.
>>28517241Okay I see post-2001 models are a big pain in the ass but most information is for residents. But I found some website with people that do world tours on adventure bikes and they were somehow getting theirs in. Can you explain more? I don't mind taking a detour through Asia.
The goal was to ride the bike from east coast USA -> West coast USA -> Japan (or Asia I guess) -> through Russia/Middle East/any friendly route -> EU -> UK -> back home.
Hence why I'm not interested in renting a bike. As I've modified this one to hold all my camping gear and tools to keep the bike going along with larger gas tank and suspension work.
It's a 2018 DR650 if that matters.
