I'm one of those, the transmission of my Gucci is worse than the one in my Ural.
That being said, Ural transmissions are actually pretty good, you just have to be gentle with them.
By gentle I don't mean you have to walk on eggshells with them, or in a sense you do, but I mean the shifter is extremely sensitive in them and the motion is tiny.
You just ha e to tap the shifter and it goes into gear.
It's a really weird feeling as you can't really kick it home or you'll in the worst case fuck up the shifter forks, you just have to gently press on the shifter and it'll click into gear neatly. Takes some getting used to, but they're incredibly smooth and neat switching transmissions.
The handle on the right side is also a big plus as you can switch gears by hand and "hop over" gears like from 1st straight to 3rd for example.

Meanwhile in my MG California you have to properly stomp on the shifter to send it into gear like on some ragged on dirt bike, no chance in hell on hitting neutral with the engine running and even when off it's a very rough shifting transmission.

For tires, spoons, a bucket, a balance stand and an air compressor are incredibly cheap.
To be honest, the most complicated thing for me has always been finding a place to dispose of the old tires. Some car tyre shops claim they take them, but then when I show up willing to pay the disposal fee they say they don't take motorcycle tires. So I just sneak in at night and throw mine into the pile behind the building anyways.

The first thing I ever ask when taking my bike in for work is when I can expect it back, and if it isnโ€™t within the day I go somewhere else. I do pretty much all the work myself anyways so this is usually pretty easy to achieve. Would not bother going somewhere where I donโ€™t know when Iโ€™m gonna get my bike back

Anyone know how I can definitively diagnose a bad ignitor or signal generator?

Only one of the coil packs is firing (swap the wires and the other coil pack fires) so I don't know if its the ignitor, signal generator, or I'm missing a bad connection somewhere.
Can I simply plug my test light into the signal gen wire to see if it sends a signal twice per revolution or would that kill my test light?

i love my mt07. it'll pop up in 3rd or 4th no problem and wheelie down the highway. haven't ridden a cp3 but the cp2 is more than capable. thing about bikes like mt or xsr is if you want to go really fast you're better off getting something faired w/a windscreen so you can tuck. the mt07 is not all that pleasant above 100, but between 0-100 it is a blast. bonus for no tcs, no power modes, no bullshit.

>the mt07 is not all that pleasant above 100, but between 0-100 it is a blast.
I have a small windscreen on my XSR900 and it does help. If you're wearing a helmet and a real jacket, you can tuck in a bit and it keeps it comfortable a little higher. 110-115 or so. Above 120 it still gets less fun. I think 132 is the max speed I've hit and yeah if you want to go that fast regularly or for extended periods, you probably want full fairings.

If you just want to make the occasional 120mph pass or a top speed run on empty sections of highway, just a small screen and decent gear will do for sure.

Yeah Iโ€™ve only had this lil shitter for a couple months, traded a zx6r (right before the bearing stuff came out by freakish luck) and yeahโ€ฆthereโ€™s zero comparison for me, based on what Iโ€™ve ridden. A supersport is fast and likes to go super fast. The mt is torquey and pulls but itโ€™s a totally different thing.
Sold the ninja bc thereโ€™s nowhere to really rip it since our track closed, but honestly I love the mt more

Both.
Biker is in an HOV lane (illegal in some states)
Biker is using the HOV lane to weave and pass traffic (multiple times in the video)
Biker also nearly ran the SUV at the start onto the shoulder when he took up like 1/3 of the lane to pass him.
Biker was also trying to lane split on a double solid white line which in a lot of states is illegal
Sedan was leaving the HOV lane at a double white which is usually always illegal
Sedan didn't have his blinkers on for at least 200 feet before changing lane

Biker must not have been paying attention either as he kept going straight on the double white as that sedan was turning into him

Has anyone here every imported a bike into Japan from America? I have some questions;

What kind of cost should I be expecting to have it shipped from west coast of USA to any Japan port? Is it possible to book passage on the same ship for myself? How much is all the insurance+misc. paperwork going to cost to get it street legal in Japan?

My plan at the moment is to ride my DR650 cross country to the west coast port then ship myself+bike to Japan to ride it there for at least 3-6 months (longer if I can get visa extension).

I am not interested in renting a bike and flying there. I want to bring my own bike.

Are they going to tear my bike down for customs or anything like that? I plan on having it fully loaded with tools, luggage and all the usual stuff. What about fluids? I know I have to drain gasoline but oil and everything else is okay as-is, right?

I'm pretty sure the 4runner in the beginning was slowing down because the traffic in front of him was slowing down, and it looks like he was making space for the bike. The sedan was some mystery meat in a hurry driving like a tard. That being said, the bike had a lifetime to avoid that collision.

California plates in the video. HOV and splitting are expected here. Biker is retarded for not seeing the sedan getting ready to get out of the HOV lane, but that nice wide double-white is basically made for lane splitting.

Okay I see post-2001 models are a big pain in the ass but most information is for residents. But I found some website with people that do world tours on adventure bikes and they were somehow getting theirs in. Can you explain more? I don't mind taking a detour through Asia.

The goal was to ride the bike from east coast USA -> West coast USA -> Japan (or Asia I guess) -> through Russia/Middle East/any friendly route -> EU -> UK -> back home.

Hence why I'm not interested in renting a bike. As I've modified this one to hold all my camping gear and tools to keep the bike going along with larger gas tank and suspension work.

It's a 2018 DR650 if that matters.
