Takeoff weight is usually maximum fuel so you need more runway and at least 10-15 degree flaps. If flaps are too high (30 degrees) then they bleed off more airspeed than lift.

If no flaps and the climbout is too steep, you'll stall hard.

I've been on 10 flights total between 1999 and 2007. Those all took place while I was a child. Not once did I enjoy being stuck in a fucking tube 35,000 feet in the air. Just thinking about the fact that I was that far above the ground as a kid gives me anxiety. On one flight, our plane hit an intense downdraft, and the plane dropped hundreds of feet rapidly. I watched an ice cube fly straight up out of a woman's drink then drop back down. I thought for sure I was going to die.

I mean, poking some fun at general "cliché" why not, but bashing instead of trying to developp a reliable theory from what media we got from the accident is really not what I was expecting...
Had it happened a few years back, like during the 737's and other major accidents in the past it would have been filled with interesting pov, detailed technicals and deep reasonings...

Perhaps instead of struggling vainly to get lift slapping it down quicker in the cleared area within the airport might have been viable. For example.
