I still don't understand why people soured so much on older HTML designs. There was a variety to it, and it would force webpages to have content and accessible navigation to them.
Eventually they became replaced with a very sterile design, which was then the gateway into making the web more accessible for mobile users. It's just one downgrade after the other.
