I’m personally not a fan, even the good stuff makes me more itchy than blissful. But for most people it “clicks” and they feel euphoric, blissful, content and happy. Like that feeling when your alarm wakes you up from a deep sleep on a Saturday but you know you can go back to bed.
Then once you get a physical addiction, you are sick as a dog without. That’s when the real fun begins. Imagine being a puking wreck with a high fever without a pill or shot. It’s a curse.
A lot of people from my highschol (largest highschool in the largest city of the 10th largest state) got caught up in the pills and became addicts. I was probably going down that road myself if it wasn’t for good family friends, and a stint in rehab for cocaine as a 19yo when a dope head from Chicago stood over me during a war story session and told me
“DONT EVER TOUCH A FUCKING NEEDLE”
I know one person who has ever made a full recovery from junk and is living a genuinely awesome life. Still smokes weed like a chimney but after an “event” put the needle down and literally just hung out at a rock climbing gym every day for years. Through that met a bunch of well to dos, travelled around, became a bit of a legend in the scene. Started an app, sold it, and bought some land down in Chattanooga with his Beverly Hills girlfriend.
Good dude. Even let me stayed in a trailer on his property for a year after my divorce as I got back on my feet.
