There's something to be said about huge dev teams reducing the quality of the overall vision. The big devs like EA & Ubisoft all have studios in asia in addition to their western ones.. so when the western ones go home and sleep the asian ones are getting up and continuing the development. Upwards of 500-1000 people work on a project which is how they're able to develop a modern game in 1-2 years.

Howver with a team that size no one can possibly know everyone. There's no cohesive vision. The quality and soul of the game suffers. Any developer is just a tiny cog in the machine.

One easy example is Mr. Derek Smart, a pioneer who basically invented the indy game genre but received an unbelievable amount of hate and trolling simply because he designed games that were too intelligent for the average player. Developers like Mr. Smart were chased out of the market and all you have left is garbage now.
