I worked as a custodian at a VA hospital for years, I've spent more time chatting with hospice patients than you've spent virtue signaling about them.
There was a guy with liver cirrhosis that was admitted a few days before I started, I'd sit in his room and chat about cars with him, none of his family was alive to visit him, age got his wife, cancer got his son. He told me how he was restoring a 31 DeSoto 6 series with his son when he was diagnosed with cancer in his brain stem, less than a month his son went from just having weird headaches to being completely vegetative going into total organ failure.
My last day working there I was talking to him about an RX7 I wanted to buy, about rotary engines and how they worked, all that, and he just drifted off in the middle of a sentence and was gone just like that, I didn't even realize what happened until the entire nurse station rushed in.
He was a good guy, I miss him.

I work in a call center in finance industry. There is so so so many millionaire or multimillionaire boomers dying alone in their mcmansions with either no children or else no children who give a fuck about them.
