hours played is misleading because i have completely burned out of many of my most played games and will never touch them again. recently played is much more representative.

Over the last 10 years i lost all tolerance for unfinished games. Up until 2012/2013 the industry made games that were like 90% finished. Some small DLC over the first couple months and some patches but in essence the game was done. Maybe an expansion a year later. But the industry has shifted more and more to 'minimum viable product' system where they release a broken and half finished game and spend the next X years fixing it.

I'm the kind of guy that picks up a game, plays it all the way through once(or twice if it significantly branches/expands in a ng+ mode) and move on to the next. I don't replay games, i just don't. I don't rewatch movies or TV shows either. I expect the game to be the best it ever can be when i buy it. The games that i like are so insanely rare that i can either play it as it comes out or play nothing at all. Pic related.

I don't like Souls games or any form of ongoing/live service game. My perfect games are story driven and character focused singleplayer games (RPGs) with a grounded story, edgy tone and third person shooter or sword fighting combat.

But all the companies that used to make games for simply stopped. Ubisoft is in the shitter, Eidos Montreal is gone, Crystal Dynamics are off in lalaland, Bethesda takes a decade to make a game, Capcom is extremely hit and miss, Bioware hasn't made a good game in like 13 years.

And indies aren't any better. They keep their games in early access forever because they plan to never stop working on them. They all got the feature creep bug.

Haven't touched any vidya since late may so i think i might put the whole thing on ice until the games that i bought this year, but unfortunately are extremely unfinished, are in a playable state. Pic very related.

nothing. the problem is that i'm one of those old old ooold school gamers. i play games that are finished, done, complete once all the way through. do everything there is to do and see everything there is to see. and then i move on to another game. but the industry hates me. they give me nothing but early access and live service trash that will never be complete and that is by design. so now i have 2 choices. ignore all of vidya for at least 3-4 years for the games patch/update life cycle to end and be in a state where i can enjoy it or deal with the fact that i have to return to games every 6-12 months to see what the devs have updated.

Because i don't like playing unfinished games and all the games i picked up over the last 6 months turned to be FUCKING UNFINISHED. Seriously, what happened? I grew up playing games that were done when i bought them. This is the game, this is the best form it's ever going to be in. You play this and it's never going to be any better. You buy it, you finish it, it's good and you move on. That is what i want. I don't want to replay games every 6 months because the devs might have released an update that completely overhauls some aspects. I don't want that. I want to buy a game, play it all the way through once, do everything there is to do and move on.
