It's weird because FF16 is exactly the same? Literally a corridor simulator. The 'open world' parts are just big maps but there's only one way to go. FF13 was better than 16 at least because you could change your party, change your paradigm, change your equipment, change your job role (magic/physical dps, tank etc).
