Why? I never hated them. I'm even glad it looks like Void Kong is his own dude and not just a magic K. Rool disguise. Still think he should have been called Empty Kong, though.

That's the point. We, the player, can pick up on any external nuances while DK and crew are just getting what they want and solving the greater problem because it's getting in their way. We don't need a deep, extrinsic motivation beyond getting bananas and saving the day, because the gameplay itself is the core reason to keep going.
