Mario Kart World does not just have standard race tracks, but a shitton of boring-as-fuck "intermission" tracks. That is basically the whole schtick of the game, it's "open world" so you can drive between the tracks. People hate these intermissions because they are straight-line Trucker Simulator 2000 bores.
In online mode, they tried to force people as much as possible to drive on the intermission tracks. But people found out that if you choose "Random", then you were always guaranteed to get a regular 3-lap course on an actual designed track. So EVERYONE online started picking Random all the time, because that was the only way to guarantee having fun in this game
Meanwhile, Nintendo started seething behind the scenes.
>Rye nobody pray intahmishon?? You pray game rong!!
And they came out with a patch today that "fixes" Random so that it chooses a boring intermission track most of the time now, too. People are fed up with what was already an underwhelming half-baked experience for $80, and now they ruined online play on top of it.

Look at this image.
People didn't wanna race these straight line courses, they wanted actual courses, the regular 3 lap ones with twists and turns, picking random always gave you a course, now it also gives intermission courses(which everyone hates)
