I've only used it once but it's pretty one dimensional. that doesn't mean it's boring or bad or OP. you get a lot of bodies and your megaboss can wipe out entire squads of infantry in a single fight. he can get an artefact that gives him 2 rend. He also pumps any keyword brute (the ragerz or regular brutes) with +1 attacks on a 2+ roll.
I played my game against Slaanesh and my megaboss took out 5 archers with a handful of dice which was hilarious. My ragerz killd his slaangors and i used the last one to damage his leader before it died. my ardboyz sat on obj and taken out by his cavalry, the other 5 screened for the ragerz so they could get in close and engage the slaangors. my boss went around the flank and stayed in range to boost the ragerz each turn.
your ardboyz are there to tie up the enemy and take damage. They get +1 rend anti-charge. your ragerz are fragile but get get strikes first if they charged, and with the boss' boost to their attacks they can do some serious damage. they probably will die but they can take a lot before they go down if you play them wisely.
They also get an army rule that lets you move 1 unit 3" during any hero phase and a regiment ability that lets you move ALL your units 3" for one turn. I think you can play them unga-bunga but you'd get more mileage being patient and setting up your strikes to maximize your damage and get into combat before your opponents shoot or outmanouvre you. The brutes come in turn 3 but can help you squeeze out a point lead with their passive. Overall it was fun even though I lost 9-17. It's a very honest spearhead.
Also it's good in multiples, has around 750 points, and pairs well with the last Christmas box. going with the kryptboyz scheme/black armor makes painting them stupid fast.

also some orks I finished and varnished alongside them since I was getting the airbrush out and putting on the mask. I tend to pile up finished models then just varnish them all at once cause I hate wearing the mask and cleaning my airbrush for one model.

impulse bought the IJ spearhead and played with it a few days later. it was my first game in a year and it was vs a rando who brought slaanesh. he was cool and I hope we can link up again when I get time off work
