The entire point of the game is to optimize your routes. That's the whole point. You are supposed to go from it being annoying to traverse and hiding from BTs and Mules to skipping everything with bridges, ziplines, and trucks. There's a reason why in early game delivering two packages is an ordeal while at endgame you're delivering 2000 kg of goods in your tier 3 truck across the entire map in five minutes.
You go from being a USPS postman to an Amazon Warehouse truck driver. That's why the LoL/oL ranks even exist because they require you not to have the package take more than like 1% of damage and get there in the fastest amount of time possible which almost always requires a shortcut that avoids BTs, ziplines, or a very specific setup of bridges. By midgame you shouldn't even see a BT encounter for more than one second and that should only happen going to Junk Dealer or Chiral Artist from South Knot City via you putting a bridge over where they spawn on that lakeside beach area so you just drive over them.
It's not supposed to be hard, it's supposed to start hard and get exceptionally easy to the point that you're picking up like 10+ orders and delivering them all in one go. If you are walking or climbing up to the Elder instead of driving a truck you're playing the game wrong.

Because people only listen to marketing. DS2 is supposed to be the BIG DUMB ACTION SEQUEL that missed the point of the original. It didn't. Every change in DS2 is something that people have been asking for to be fixed or expanded upon.
