AI isn't truly intelligent. It's machine learning. And the machines learn from studying many, many examples of human creativity, and then replicates it. It is, in essence, a little piece of the collective consciousness of humanity. So, when an AI makes something like a fantasy image, it makes an image from all the fantasy it has been exposed to. It has the general soul of humanity behind it, but a general soullessness when it comes to individual direction or intent beyond what the prompter could make it do. That's AI's own brand of soullessness - being a sort of amalgamation of innumerable things and not having much individual intent or vision behind it.

This is different from the AAA brand of soullessness. This is a sort of soullessness that comes from being forced to fit the various superstitions of the investors, of having to fit in with various social and ideological mores, of trying to be as safe as possible and also of trying to appeal to as wide a population as possible, all while ALSO trying to turn heads.

There's a certain unique kind of soullessness you get from a product that's trying to be edgy and rebellious to bring attention to the product while also trying to not offend anyone. Or trying to make a traditional fantasy game (because fantasy has an established fanbase) while also trying to not be a traditional fantasy game at all (because traditional fantasy isn't a wide enough audience). So on and so forth. The resulting weird magenta punk Kindergarten that you see these days is something that could only be produced by a soulless corpo process.

So, AI is soulless in the sense of being an amalgamation of thousands or millions of other things without much of its own individual identity. AAA is soulless in the sense of edgeless, incoherent creative bankruptcy.

The sin isn't lying.

The sin is "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour."

Or in more modern English, "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor."

It's because everyone already knows what these fantasy races are, and so the worldbuilding is already done for you in the form of player expectation. This can be especially important if the player can select from multiple races for their character, because that way they immediately know what they're getting into with each race without having to read some lengthy lore blurb about your original races.

>Human, elf, dwarf, halfling, goblin, orc
Hey, I know what those are!

>Blugnir, Slithards, Grimsnarians, Saurenes, Mordgrim
What the fuck am I reading?

>Why do you play MMO as a girl, /v/?
As I have learned:
~70% because you're a tranny
~30% because you're a gooner
Naturally, gooner is folded into the tranny category, so by "gooner" I mean people who are *only* gooners. The latter non-tranny gooners also tend to be more of the "my character is just a damage blob in a video game" types who don't do any self-inserting or implicit or explicit RP.

What was even the point of that show?

Also, I had difficulty getting past some of the dumber bits of the initial premise. Okay, a cult called the Mithraic Order get their hands on alien tech and use it to wage an extermination campaign against Earth, fair enough. But their enemies are... the fucking "Atheists"? Really? I could get them fighting a big war in the name of an *atheistic ideology,* but atheism itself? Enough that their symbol is a big "A"? And then they program their alien robot to fanatically preach milquetoast scientific rationalism that even the fucking kids they're supposed to be raising aren't even enthused by despite it being the only belief system they've ever heard. I just couldn't take Reddit the Robot seriously or that she represented a major faction of humanity that had fought a war to the death. If it was just basic Western classical liberalism like "we believe in freedom and democracy and the right of the rights of the individual to live as he or she pleases and we won't submit to a UFO cult theocracy!" that would have been way more believable and less cringe than what they actually went with.
