It's the Kenyan Helicopter problem. Lots of gamedevs, both here and elsewhere, indie and AAA alike, don't understand the fundamentals of game design. Instead, they create fake shell imitations of what they think the components of a game are and roughly glue them together into something that resembles a video game. However, once you dive deeper, you'll see that these "games" really make no sense. You'll find extraneous components added on that don't fit in or critical components are missing because the devs are just gluing together an arbitrary list of components that they know exists in other video games without understanding why those components are there.

Game design is the hardest part of gamedev. You cannot design a functional aircraft just by copying the surface-level components. You have to understand the fundamental underlying principles of how and why an aircraft flies, and until you do, all you can build is a Kenyan helicopter.
