eh I don't really care about money that much. I had amassed a quarter million by age 26 (in pre-covid money) and basically retired from real work. I now make money with little creative projects, live off of dividends, and stay at my moms house

stock gives more power than actually needed with some extra reserve to ensure 100% rock-solid stability taking into account manufacturing margin of error
since stock gives more power - it heats up faster and hits the thermal wall faster
with undervolting you are de-facto searching for absolute bare minimum power that is necessary for you're specific cpu die to be 99,999% or 100% stable
since you are sending less power - it heat's up slower, and that formed thermal headroom is then used to boost clock higher, because boost potential is locked by thermals

they are very handy and very comfy. i use them at work for various data processing tasks, when the amount of data is too large to do it by hand, or to small to involve something more advanced.
my typical usecases are retrieving smth with cli tool, storing it in temporary variable, processing it, and then feeding it as an input to something else. mainly dealing with administrative tasks on GCP. a small bash-script running inside tiny machine as a periodic cron-job can easily substitute more expensive and more resource intensive ways of doing things. i have a bunch of these small jest-werks scripts with sed and awk for various small tasks.

will upgrade from comfy m1 to m6/m7. since they have like 5-10-15% gains per generation (depending on benchmark scope) - that 6-7 years wait seems to produce the most benefit and will be 2-2.5x upgrade all together. maybe they'll even get rid of fucking notch by that point.
i doubt in near 10-15 years there will be any significant breakthrough in performance and efficiency seen from migration intel>apple silicon.
