The "point" of a hobby is to pass the time and you do the activity for its own sake because you ultimately derive some kind of pleasure from it. People harbor too many illusions about language learning but it's no different than stamp collecting or playing video games. Yeah, maybe you get lucky and it opens some paths for you later in life, but this is a bonus, if you're not having fun learning languages, you're basically wasting your time.

So, /ic/, what is the verdict? Do you really need to enjoy the process in order to get anywhere? By my own experience, I think it's probably true. But if that's the case, what is so many people doing in this board? Most of you hate drawing.
