The mecha fights are better.
The mechas are better.
The story is better.
The storytelling is better.
The world building is better.
Most of the characters are more endearing.
The geopolitical-economic intrigue is better.
The romance actually exists.
The cuck memes were better.
The Char was better.
etc.

The weaknesses show up from S2 when they throw out much of what they built up in S1 in order to fanwank Guel and Jeturk House to the detriment of the series overall.
The overly blatant character sidelining in S2 became a meme in itself.
A similar problem to GQX of characters existing just to either exposition dump or otherwise move the plot and die starts happening with S2.
The show largely loses direction from episode 15 onwards and the only things holding it together are the remnants of the plot established in the Prologue, aka what existed since the start that survived the shakeups between S1 and S2.

Still, I don't regret watching it and would rate it above most entries that have come out after Turn A. But it had the potential to be better than it became by the end. I can't say the same for GQX.
