No shit the gameplay isn't exactly the same, one is a medieval sandbox rpg game while one is a glorified farming sim that pretends to be a zombie game. In Mount & Blade the end goal isn't to become a King, its one of the possible end goals you can do and you can do it multiple ways. One playthrough I was just a rich trade baron and bought towns and cities. One Playthrough I was a bandit, robbing merchants and raiding kingdoms if they didn't pay me enough gold. Throughout the playthroughs there was a good sense of progression that didn't feel like mindless grinding. Project zomboid on the other hand has no possible end goal in sight(both for the player and the devs) and there is not sense of progression other than watching a green bar fill up and hearing a little jingle when you level up. The devs in there infinite wisdom decided to make that part of the game even more annoying by reducing the exp gained to level, adding a cap to how much you can level up a skill from certain tasks or even out right removing the ability to level up from certain tasks. They also decided to make the combat system far worse than it already was so that fighting zombies is now a chore which is such an amazing idea for a so called "zombie" game.

No Zomboid is about finding what useless shit you can collect to make your sims base a little cooler. The game's mechanics are very shallow and it becomes very clear once you get past the first 2-3 weeks of surviving.

No. They easily could make player data and mtx server sided so you wouldnt be able to use cheat engine or anything like that unless you would go with custom unlocker. There was PC port in development by Virtuos and Beenox but it got greenlit just before pandemic hit which skyrocketed porting costs so Activision pulled the plug on port back then.
