I got A rank with my Taiki, the big difference between the B+ run and the A was that the A got to do some extra races due to good parents (so big stats from them, equal to some turns of training) and got her unique skill fully upgraded + the skill points meant I could take lots of strong gold skills instead of just trash I had with my B+. My deck was 2 SR 3 SSR with friend SSR of course, one of the SSR is the free one fully uncapped the other two are speed ones with skills relevant for Taiki. None of the cards were uncapped. So yes you do need decent deck still and those good genes which will take time but I believe you can get there with SR cards only too if they just have relevant skills and events
