You're right, and there are more and also less ways of developing relationships and engaging in our natural inclinations in healthy ways. That's why Church is so important. Not solely because of the community aspect (but that is a big portion, even for monastics who forsake marriage they live in community intentionally), but because we need direction, and communion with the one who knows us better than we know ourselves. Have you tried an Orthodox Church? It's much more traditionally minded and healthy than this modern culture of dating and hookups.
