If you are actually "in the know" you realize that linux is going the same exact corporate path.
Open source is meaningless if you wish to be compatible with the rest of the world even though theoretically you can always fork it and patch things on your own the scope is beyond the masses.
The open source community can't even maintain a web browser without corpo support. Google has basically EEE-d firefox as well.
Why do people even try to cope with linux?
