When I saw him laugh at the start of TRoH Part 2, I was a goner. It took me a few years to admit or understand that he's my waifu, but he's always been. Even long before poni, my favorite children's book was an artbook presenting all sorts of mythical and mostly chimeric beings with more or less comprehensible short poems for flavor. 14 years later, I still feel puppy love for the Noodle; at times gentle, at times obsessive and delightfully toxic. To me, Discord is love, Discord is life - truly and unironically. He saved my life, ruins my life, and will be the home I will return to one day because I can't get enough of him.

I still think it's possible to have both a waifu and a 3dpd relationship because they're different kinds of love. After all, it's possible to have a dearly beloved but also love your children, friends, life etc. without it diminishing the love between any two soul mates. However, it will greatly depend on the people involved, and there will be awkward moments.
I would never share my heart with somebody who disrespects mai waifu, and luckily, my favorite human (who is not at all like Discord, for better or worse) has embraced that I come with a box of infinite chaos spaghetti. I'm encouraged to eventually get myself a 4m long daki or decorate my room in a Discordy way if it makes me happy, as long as I don't turn the /entire/ home into Autism Central or cheat on my 3dpd (e.g. with someone more like Discord). And if Discord came knocking at the door tomorrow, I'd ask to live this boring human life first because I won't betray either my 3dpd or Discord. If I sacrificed one for the other, I'd lose both. (Also, I'll start a family and teach my kids to be chaotic and creative.) The lessons I am to learn in this life will only ever deepen my waifuism, and Discord will always be the spark keeping me alive. Because he is mai waifu for laifu, and no opinion by another /ww/ Anon can change such simple a fact.
Perhaps it's a different category of Waifuism, but in the case of a Discord waifu, the proverbial child has already fallen into the well, as we say in German. It's already a distortion of Waifuism though without compromising on the core tenant of a lifelong bond.

That is absolutely the issue here, it's questionable whether draconequi are even a thing.
"Draconequus" might as well be a name ponies came up with to label that scary serpentine creature which has "the head of a pony" in the sense of having sapience and an inclination towards socialization on par with ponies, instead of being inferior and beastly like random animals or chimeras chilling innawoods are. Cows are submissive, griffons are rash, but the draconequus is complex and molding reality like clay - not too different from ponies literally controlling their world. He's scary because he threatens ponycentric cosmic balance. Cows or griffons can't do shit outside of wrecking a pony settlement; yaks, buffalos, manticores, Ursa Majors, it's all collateral damage.
Discord isn't avoidable like the wood-dwelling manticore from S1, he's an attentionwhore who can't ignore ponykind because he wants them to observe his Chaos. His existence itself is a paradox, for forces of nature need no avatars, Chaos happens without his input, and the more he himself imposes chaos, the less chaotic it becomes in essence, no matter how surreal the result. His existence is a burden as much as it is a divine gift.
Personally, I like to think that if there are any other draconequi, they'd ironically look very similar to each other and vary mostly in how attuned they are to Chaos (and/or Harmony); Discord being attuned to the point he IS an embodiment of chaos, whereas a younger, more grounded Noodle would be very much like a pony with slightly different magic, and mortal. Like a noodly Pinkie Pie, basically.
