I wish that was the case but no, FF7R is more fun the least you engage with its gameplay.
At least half the people who completed hard mode and VR did so by strictly following a guide on team composition, on how to build the characters and on which actions to take during every encounter. And that's understandable, because anyone with a sane mind would be appaled by those challenges and go "yeah, i'm not gonna bother with this shit, time to go read a guide".
So why should we argue with people who defend the gameplay of FF7R when 90% of players used 5% of the gameplay during their run, and when the few completionists followed an online guide on how to cheese the hardest challenges?
Meanwhile, most of E33's playerbase engaged with all its mechanics, namely managing the enemy attacks by parrying or dodging and selecting their favorite lumina, skills and weapon. When they talk about the gameplay of E33, they know what they're talking about, they experienced it in its entirety, unlike FF7Rcucks who lost GOTY.
