Maelle: I want to save the painted world and its people!
Also Maelle: *immediately gommages painted Alicia in front of Verso*
Aline: draws painted Alicia as a mute burn victim and makes her live like that for 100+ years instead of drawing her pre-burn form, meanwhile painted Verso is drawn as an immortal chad
Verso: kills Gustave and hijacks the party of girls for himself
The whole family are possessive incestuous psychopaths

Alicia's only concern is deluding herself into feeling like Verso is alive. She has every motivation Aline had, only stronger, because she bears guilt over being responsible for his death. Everything she says about wanting to be called Maelle or caring about Lumiere (which Maelle did not) is a cope and a lie.

It would be such a weird thing to leave that as the answer when it is presented so mysteriously. We see Gustave very clearly about to be hit with the Nevron attack. Not many things could have saved him. Painted Renoir could, but he is only interested in killing the expeditioners so that their chroma isn't trapped by Nevrons.

She gommages Alicia because she reminds her of who she is and who she doesnt want to be (burn victim hated by her mother that feels guilt for her brother's death), and she is comforted by basically putting that personality to rest and living as Maelle.
She doesn't extend the same courtesy to painted Verso wanting to die because she wants him to live for her own selfish reasons.

Verso ending will come regardless, Renoir would never let her daughter die, and she cant beat him top shape, she's a mediocre paintress after all. people that chose the Verso ending are denying closure to everybody, which is the main theme of the game, they are psychopaths moved by a non existent moral high ground, that denies the existence of painters powers, how they works, their limits, and demands self inserting, which is fucking gay by itself, in a way that justify their retardation. Maelle is always the player, never a young girl devoured by guilt, and Verso is always a poor tortured soul, never the player, never a liar, never the sex pest always ready to fuck an expeditioner, he can fucking play the fucking piano for a decade.
Verso "choosers" are denying in this very thread that Alicia wanted to go.
The only reason Renoir allowed the light "to stay up" was because he realized how important the canvas was for Alicia, that he never thought how she felt. Verso was never part of the conversation
