I think about this too. It made zero sense to send a guy who's only had 2 drops in a simulator to try to obtain an extremely dangerous alien and bring them back. They could have sent a competent Lieutenant who got the job done but then killed the rest of the crew. Or send a second team in but that would defeat the purpose of sending the first team because there were already infected colonists.

Bill Paxton brags so much about the weapons tech they had but literally used none of it. It's hundreds of years in the future but they look like they're wearing football pads.

Here you can see how the distance of the dome and the teeth respects the skull's proportions, so the lips don't look wrong.
You could see in Isolation that the moment it caught you and prepared to chomp your face while vibrating in pure seethe, you could almost visualize it contracting it's lips to reveal the chromed shit eating grin. I really hope they can do it.
