A lot of people play games to be immersed, and visuals do a lot of the heavy lifting there. Invisible walls, poorly merged textures, terrible animations, all pretty noticeable flaws that can break immersion. When there are other games without those flaws (including older games in the same series) it kinda sucks when you're playing an obvious downgrade.
If you're like me and only care about the gameplay itself, egregious issues like >>723738039 are still irredeemable. If they're cutting corners on stuff like that it calls into questions how much they bothered to fix other problems.
But hey, if you're in the crowd of people who just need a pokemon on the screen to be happy and refuse to play anything but NEW THING, don't let me and my standards stop you.
