People should write stories for themselves, if you try to create something that "fans" will like you're just guessing.
We already have great stories with female leads (battle angel alita is one of my favourite manga) and adult protagonists (literally any seinen), I don't understand what they're asking.
For one piece to reboot with a female protagonist? That's probably it.
