I guess is just this awkward scenario the Japanese build for themselves and we Westerners can't properly write about it. When we had the chance, we wrote "Sonic fighting against the tyranny of Eggman" three times, and a sitcom. Something more literal for the thematic.
To be fair, the games themselves only went this "fighting against tyranny" like 3 times, with both storybook titles (and barely in the first) and Forces (where gone are the vulnerable side Pontac wrote for Sonic, and instead we got a less interesting Paragonic than in Black knight).
