I think with toriel it really makes sense with how she approaches problems. when asgore did something she didn't like she hid away, when a human wont listen to her and stay she tells them to leave and closes the door behind them. If she had the opportunity to be a giga knower it would be in character for her to instead put her head in the sand so to say

I have to wonder, while we cant damage asriel in the pacifist route, would a lv 19 or 20 human find asriel just as immune to their attacks? Human determination does strange things too, sure asgore destroys the mercy button but I get the impression that determination is basically just "big protagonist energy" because despite that we get the button back just fine, or against omega flowey how the act button comes to us when we need it. 7 souls would have more determination and the power to save but in this world does being the protagonist just mean you get the cards in your hand when you need them most so even against a god at least some human out there would have a way forward? I may be stretching things a little bit but thats what comes to mind.

no, its the very very ending thats poorly executed. everything leading up to there has great music, a cool fight, drama and so on. then the characters go completely out of character for just long enough that it has spawned endless people rewriting that exact part in fan-fangames (shades of yellow) comics, and of course fanfiction itself.
