Spell for entering into the beautiful West ...

To me belong all people, and all of them have been given to me! I have gone in as a falcon, I have come out as a phoenix; O Morning Star, make a path for me, that I may enter in peace into the beautiful West, and I belong to the Waterway of Horus. Make a path for me, that I may enter and worship Osiris, the Lord of Life.

the distinction that needs to be made, in my opinion, is between monotheism of the one, that grand unity which all religions converge upon, and exclusive monotheism, which has been a disaster, including during and after the reign of Akhenaten

>Hornung, Erik: "It is evidently unnatural for Egyptian gods to be strictly defined. Their being remains a fluid state to which we are not accustomed; it escapes every dogmatic, formal definition and can always be extended or further differentiated. The combinations gods form with other gods are transitory in many respects and can be dissolved at any time. This fluidity leaves no room for [exclusive] monotheism, which bases itself on unambiguous definitions." Conception of God in Ancient Egypt. Cornell University Press: Ithaca NY, 1996; p. 99.

The Dunmer of Morrowind believe that Azura is their god-ancestor, who taught the Chimer how to be different from the Altmer (though some of her teachings are occasionally attributed to Boethiah). These tales often portray her as more of a communal progenitor or "cosmic force" for the Chimer rather than an ancestor or a god. They refer to her as The Twilight, Lady of Twilight, Goddess of Twilight, Goddess of Dusk and Dawn (or Dawn and Dusk), and Mother of Roses.

Several legends hold that Lord Nerevar was Azura's champion, and the two had a special relationship. He consulted Azura on important matters, and it was she who blessed his ring Moon-and-Star, a unique ring made by Dwemeri smiths before the First Council was formed, so that it would kill any who wore it except Nerevar. It was on this ring that Nerevar swore to the Ashlander tribes that he would always honor their way of life, and thus earned their allegiance. The ring also gave him great powers of persuasion.

>For three hundred years I have been a priestess of Azura, the Daedric Princess of Moonshadow, Mother of the Rose, and Queen of the Night Sky. Every Hogithum, which we celebrate on the 21st of First Seed, we summon her for guidance, as well as to offer things of worth and beauty to Her Majesty. She is a cruel but wise mistress. We do not invoke her on any Hogithum troubled by thunderstorms, for those nights belong to the Mad One, Sheogorath, even if they do coincide with the occasion. Azura at such times understands our caution . . . .

>Azura is the only Daedra Princess I have ever worshipped who seems to care about her followers. Molag Bal wanted my mind, Boethiah wanted my arms, and Nocturnal perhaps my curiosity. Azura wants all of that, and our love above all. Not our abject slavering, but our honest and genuine caring in all its forms. It is important to her that our emotions be engaged in her worship. And our love must also be directed inward. If we love her and hate ourselves, she feels our pain. I will, for all time, have no other mistress.

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow—
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if Hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand—
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep—while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
