Legends Arceus and SV were easily the most ambitious games in the series, a huge step up in terms of story and some great gameplay innovations, like making exploring and interacting with the world using your Pokémon seamless.
They're badly held back by bad technical performance and visuals, but the Switch 2 version of SV completely eliminates its performance issues, and there seems to be actual improvement on the development end with ZA's Switch version not suffering from SV's crippling problems.
Gen 10 will be the first games that have not suffered from the three-year dev cycle in over 15 years. If they can just deliver a game that looks and runs "good" and keeps going in the right direction it could easily be the best game in the series (and earn the sales to match).
