Many fans dislike that season, so me loving it just makes me an exception.
It's basically a war game where an evil empire is trying to take control, and the main characters are traveling to different zones and fighting the army, you know since the very beginning of the show who is going to be the final boss of the show. A lot of times it also ignore power scaling, and the fusions most of the times are not that interesting, but it has an amazing soundtrack, pretty good villains, the main digimon Shoutmon is great, and also it has a lot of good fanservice if you see it in Japanese with Subs (Dubs censored it), I liked Lilithmon, she's a dumb but fun main villain.
I say give it a try, although the start is pretty slow with the stupid MadLeomon, but it starts to get better after that.

The charm is on her character from Xros Wars, she is fun, cares for her little brother, has a cute romance with that ugly robot Beelzemon who ends in tragedy when he kills himself to kill his former boss, Lilithmon.
And has a cool snake hand.
