People are making a big mistake by trying to think about Deltarune in Undertale terms. All the worldbuilding in Undertale was done with a very specific story in mind. Deltarune story does not needs boss monsters or disparity between humans and monsters, so I don't think these concepts will be carried over.

Elnino and Lanino are suppose to reflect Toriel and Asgore. It means they are going to get together in the end
