do these people realize how labor intensive childcare is? there's a reason why every single healthy civilization in history encouraged people to have kids early in their lives, precisely because you need to be young and energetic to be able to raise a kid. most people barely have enough energy at 40 to get out of bed, yet for some reason they think that providing 24/7 care for a child at this age for several years won't cripple them. also, the bigger the age gap between you and your child is, the harder it will be to connect to them on a social level. getting a kid at 45 means you'll be 60 when he or she starts 9th grade. do you think a 60 year old hag is fresh enough to understand the problems a 15yo kid faces?
