i don't know the true reason
i remember roblox came under fire for not protecting kids well enough, or something...
probably the state made them add ID verification to make parents of ipad kids more relieved, but i don't think it would help kids get less preyed upon or see un-wholesome things
it was such a great game in the past, now it's more or less a shitty app store with a social media element for normal kids

The ability for any block in the game to gain sentence, the overpowered builds people could make that also fit in-universe, it had a very other-worldly feeling to it. If there were other dimensions I imagine they’d be strange and alien like the caves of qud.
the difficulty curve is something else
they've added an option to turn off perma-death upon character creation, like terraria kind of
it sets a checkpoint whenever you enter a friendly village
but yeah once you pass the difficulty curve, it gets alot more atmospheric and immersive
