I understand your reasoning and you have a point. But Demonolatry has been a business transaction type of worship for all its existence, despite having religious inclinations (whether that type of thing could be considered "religion" is another thing, but it's basically "religious" or at least spiritual). And Demonolatry and other types of deal-with-spirits type of occult-ish systems are all rooted in esoteric heathen practices, that's why its modern revivalists with septum rings and they/them in their bio you see are inclined to both of those types (occultism, satanism AND neo-paganism, sometimes claiming the demons are all ancient gods demonized). Another part of Paganism is that it's before the seperation of tradition, science, magic, and religion; so it's sense of "religion" is much more extensive and encompassing. I would consider the Graves' transactional relationship with the demons to be an esoteric spritiualist practice, and it's definitely closer to the arcane heathen cults of Antiquity than any type of organized religion, especially one with any type of moral concern. That's essentially what I'm trying to argue, not that they're practicing a religion.
