>You people don't care about japanese media, games etc.
I care about them immensely, but a now a lot of it is fucked right out the gate, these people finally managed to destroy things at the very root off it, even learning japanese doesn't help me as the censorship will be in that language to, won't even go into what's happening in Japan with shall we say, certain demographics, cause that's something for another board.
So yea, I am once again saying I'm fine with all this, truly at this point things won't improve unless they get so horrendously bad that it all crashes down.
So let it. Either a better industry will be born or we'll never hear it from again, either outcome is preferable to the shambling corpse it is now.

I enjoyed the demo and still enjoy the game thus far but it doesn't feel like Shinobi outside of the very basic abilities. Building Armor/Execution damage, the Hollow Knight-style platforming, the Metroidvania-esque design despite still being split into stages, the power of the dash to the point where there's an entire type of enemy attack that ignores i-frames. It's one of those things where if this was a new IP from Lizardcube only I'd probably have picked it up eventually and enjoyed it more than I am now because I'm not thinking about how a proper mechanical sequel to Shinobi III came out on 3DS fourteen years ago (also made by westerners who loved the IP to boot) and it got ignored/poorly reviewed.

Play Shinobi III (or Shinobi 3DS if you already have, it's insanely underrated)

NTA but that sounds cool, didn't know there was a solo server and all that. DD2 was okay but not what I was hoping for, DDO's Warrior changes sounded right up my alley though.
/v/ - Shinobi - potential GOTY?

No. I was extremely excited on announcement but the demo screams 7/10 (which is still absolutely a good game but not remotely GOTY material).
>Very easy combat between the super strong dodges and middling enemy design; juggling enemies gets old even with all upgrades
>Saving up ninpo/ninjutsu can only make it easier
>Moves that are staples to Shinobi like the Kunai fan jump either gone or will be mid-late game upgrades
>Metroidvania broken up into "stages" that feels almost like the weakest version of either
>Wall cling + airdash spike-room style platforming challenges instead of something more akin to classic Shinobi games
There's better 2D ninja action platformers from the mid-2020s like Shadow of the Ninja Reborn and NG Ragebound but it's still good. It's much more clear why GuardCrush was behind the gameplay of SoR4 while LizardCube was mostly there for the art (which is incredible in AoV to be fair).

Shinobi III, 2002, Nightshade, and 3DS reign supreme. 3DS is the best one but people aren't ready for that discussion.
/v/ - Action games

Just did Day 1 of NG3RE for the first time. I suppose it feels good enough but some of the changes are a little odd (healing and ninpo in particular) and the many setpieces/stealth moments date it so badly as a 7th gen game. I kept thinking about how similarly structured it is to the first stage of Revengeance (urban setting attacked, exploding trucks, QTE moments, mostly just normal soldiers and a couple big vehicles including one you break down the armor on the legs so you can sever them, rival introduction, cinematic limping segment). I know it came out first but it's still uncanny. Also the britbong in the mask kind of sucks in every way from design to voice to personality to boss fight; I hope he's less lame later on.

>2023 had Hi-Fi Rush, Gravity Circuit, and En Garde
>2024 had Kunitsu-Gami, Magenta Horizon, and Shadow of the Ninja Reborn
>2025 has new 2D & 3D NGs (Ragebound is a clear winner, 4 is up in the air still), a version of NG2 that while still not Vanilla is "Sigma 2 but not shit", Captain Blood, and Absolum
>The future has more pretty fun-looking games as well, mostly from indies but there's a chance Romeo Is A Dead Man or the new Onimusha deliver
Feels good man
