>Blue, directly cancels any card played so no on death or enter field effects procs while wasting your mana and has bounce to hand which has flexibility with your own creatures enter field effects. Also has draw power so you can keep counter spells flowing as your 1/1 fairy deals chip damage.
A class that can only effectively counter itself is bad game design. Theoretically a weenie rush deck should be able to beat out blue but thats just one counter compared to other decks that are crushed under blue.
