Someone told me there is no afterlife according to the Taoism and all the dead people are dead for real and nobody's hanging out in heaven, implying that the Heng bit at the end was like a symbolic hallucination or someshit. But then I'm not sure why Heng would insist she'll be waiting to reunite with him unless she's so deranged she thinks both her and him returning to the primordial sludge and becoming a part of le universe counts, in which case I'd be legitimately angry at how retarded whoever thought of that is.
