I don't think it'll be a big deal at all. It's the original creator making this series. Ashur's going to be a bad ass lanista. I just hope he lasts more than one season.

Same! I'm happy to have more Roman/Gladiator stuff to watch. And that they're back in a ludus, instead of being in an army like the later seasons, is great. They can take this story wherever they want too since it's not based on Spartacus and history. And it's Starz so definitely tits, ass, and blood!

Not at all. He was very interesting. He had a whole crew of badasses going by the end of Season 2. He was the smartest of all the gladiators and had powerful connections, which is how he was going to be getting his own ludus and freedom. That alone makes him worthy of being star of a show. He's a schemer like Batiatus, and will need to compete against other powerful Romans who see him as an unworthy upstart slave. They'll want to kill him off and take his shit. There's zero other characters as interesting to make a show about and I'm really interested to see where they take it. I've seen the actor in other shows and he always elevates it.
